RUSSELL Brand will go head to head with Jonathan Ross after landing his own slot on Channel 4.

The comedian is to host his Russell Brand Show on Friday night from the end of the month. He takes on Wossy, whose BBC1 programme starts at 11pm.

Womanising former postman Brand, 31, who shot to fame on E4's Big Brother's Big Mouth is known for a colourful past of heroin use.

Old squeezes include Kate Moss and BB's Kate Lawler.

Last night C4's Angela Jain said: "Russell is undoubtedly the man of the moment."

Russ' Chat Show Battle

If you're in the mood for a chat show battle, this is your lucky day.

For Russell Brand has just been given his own slot on Channel 4.

And the Big Brother's Big Mouth star will be going up against none other than Jonathan Ross, whose BBC1 show is on at the same time.

Controversial.

The Russell Brand Show will air on Friday nights from the end of November, in direct competition with Wossy, who hosts Friday Night With Jonathan Ross at 11pm.

Of course Johnny R, 46, is a veteran of the talk show game and has been presenting since the late 1980s.

But according to a source, Russ, 31, is hot new stuff right now, having become popular after his stint presenting Big Brother 7's sister show.

Angela Jain from Channel 4 told the Daily Mirror: "Russell is undoubtedly the man of the moment."
