December 15, 2006 RUSSELL BRAND picked up a gong at the British Comedy Awards — but seemed more excited about my Bizarre Shagger Of The Year crown. As he accepted the Best Male Comedy Newcomer award, he joked: “It’s nice to be acknowledged for comedy but I must preserve my energy as I’m also up for The Sun’s Shagger Of The Year award.” Russ learns next week if he’s won the big one — but must defeat EDDIE MURPHY, SADIE FROST, STEVE COOGAN and CALUM BEST.
