DERMOT O'Leary has turned down the chance to take over from Kate Thornton as the next X Factor presenter.
Simon Cowell offered the chirpy 33-year-old one of the best jobs on TV - worth an estimated £250,000 - after being impressed with him on Big Brother's Little Brother.
He is determined to bring in a male presenter following the success of Ryan Seacrest, who fronts American Idol.
An insider tells us: "Dermot was flattered but the filming would clash with his upcoming commitments for Big Brother."
We understand Simon was also keen on landing T4's Steve Jones - but he was unavailable.
