The biggest and best Big Brother begins this week and after the producers sprung the Chantelle surprise on Celebrity BB earlier in the year, they've come up with a Wonka of an idea for this series.

They have linked up with Nestle to give one lucky individual the chance of an appearance in the BB house through the lottery of a "golden ticket".

Big Brother are secreting 100 tickets inside KitKat fours and Chunky singles which will be made available on Friday. Anyone finding a ticket before 10.20pm on June 2 will be eligible for entry.

But there are conditions and if you go to the official Big Brother site at http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/ and follow the Terms & Conditions link, you can read them all for yourself.

The key ones, however, are these: "All claimants will be subject to extensive background checks and must provide all requested documentation. Big Brother shall be entitled, at any stage, to exclude claimants at Big Brother's sole discretion. Big Brother will not be obliged to give any explanation of why a claimant has been excluded.

"Successful claimants (who have not been excluded) will be invited to the Big Brother studios to participate in the programme on Friday, June 9, 2006. During this programme, one claimant will be selected to become a housemate in a manner to be determined by Big Brother at its discretion. The selected claimant will, with immediate effect, become a Big Brother housemate and will enter the Big Brother house and be subject to Big Brother's rules."

So, you've been warned and - as Willy Wonka may himself have said - be careful what you wish for. You may get it.

But if you really are looking for a place in the Big Brother house and you're down to stuffing your face with chocolate to get it, you're probably desperate enough to try almost anything to get on telly.

As luck would have it, there's a website devoted to helping you.

At http://www.starnow.co.uk , if you don't make the show, you can at least make the audience.

Among the 25 opportunities listed on the site is one for a place in the cheap seats at Big Brother's Big Mouth on E4.

According to the blurb they're looking for people who "love nothing better than a good argument", but if you absolutely won't settle for second best, take a look at one of the 125 listings under the Reality TV section.

Here you will discover that, among others, Leopard Films are looking for a fussy eater and Children's BBC are looking for a Rastafarian character - genuine if possible - for BBC 2.

Channel 5, meanwhile, are looking for "various" people for drama reconstructions within the M25 area. They're quite fussy: "Are you a dairy farmer? Or a gamekeeper? Or the proud owner of a retriever dog which you sometimes take hunting?"

They also want American men and women, German men and women, Brazilian men, Dutch men and women and doctors. Presumably to be hunted by a dairy-farming gamekeeper who is immensely proud of his dog.

Wall To Wall Television want people who are in serious debt, IWC Media want people who are "lazy, unemployed and don t like doing a hard day's work" and ITV Play are looking for contestants to play in the forthcoming Rovers Return Pub Quiz.

An "award-winning" production company wants old virgins and Channel 4 want "plus size" women.

There really is no limit and personally I shall be applying for the "is your loft unique?" programme, or the ITV show looking for someone who looks "a bit" like someone famous.

I look a bit like an older, fatter, less attractive Warren Clarke of Dalziel and Pascoe fame. Does this count, I wonder?

I see that the News of the World is already offering to buy someone's ticket from them, as long as it is not validated.....bet the tabs will be falling over themselves to get a reporter into the process.

I'm giving up Kitkats this week

hmm this (and Ray's point) has got me thinking, it's obvious the tabs will be desperate to get someone inside the house. BB will be aware of this and will do whatever they can to stop them getting in

which makes me suspiscious about the vetting process, surely Endermol aren't gonna let any random person off the street in. At the very least people will be vetted for any behavioural problems, dodgy family history, criminal records etc.

I've got a feeling whoever gets "picked" won't be as ordinary as BB tries to make out

This year in the UK, a record 25,000 people auditioned for the seventh series of the British Big Brother. But if that wasn’t enough, 100 special Golden Tickets have been inserted into Kit-Kat chocolate bars and will be distributed amongst 40,000 retail outlets around the United Kingdom.

The massive logistical operation of distributing the special Kit-Kat bars under maximum security will be the last chance for fans to enter the Big Brother house this year. Tickets are expected to turn up on internet marketplace E-Bay commanding thousands of pounds.

The competition, which starts tomorrow, is the first of its kind in the world for the Endemol franchise. The ambition of the shows producers is to attract the interest of a broader demographic of people. The public will have 2 weeks to locate the 100 golden tickets.

In a twist reminiscent of Willy Wonka, the 100 lucky people will be flown to Elstree studios the home of Big Brother UK, for a special live TV broadcast where one lucky person will be selected at random. The winner will then enter the Big Brother house 2 weeks into the series.

The long-awaited Big Brother series which returns to Channel 4 tomorrow night (Friday morning Aussie time), attracted an average audience of 9 million in the finale last year. The flagship program of the state funded network had been brought a week ahead of schedule to compete against rival station ITV’s Celebrity Love Island, Celebrity X Factor and Soccer Aid.

It will also be running for 13 weeks, the longest ever BB series in the UK. Sixteen housemates will initially be revealed on launch night, however it is likely up to 20 will pass through the house during the series. The housemates are currently in lock-down, being flown to secret locations around Europe to escape the menacing tabloid media.

Davina McCall, host of the Big Brother Live Eviction shows, has already revealed the seventh series is “the most twisted season yet!”. Stay tuned to queerplanet as Big Brother’s Little Brother brings you coverage from Big Brother UK.

Trucks leave the Nestlé factory in York under escort after being loaded with KitKats, some of which contain the Big Brother tickets

THE revival of Nestlé Rowntree's iconic KitKat brand is continuing apace - with Big Brother set to give it a further boost from tonight.

Sales of the York confectioner's top chocolate bar slumped by 16 per cent last year, largely because of a decision to scrap two key variants; KitKat Kubes and Low Carb.

But figures for January this year suggested sales were picking up again, and today the company said they "continued to be buoyant".

A spokeswoman said it was concentrating on strong growth plans for 2006 - "with the focus on core KitKat, which is proving successful".

She said a number of activities were in place to continue the growth trend, for example, the golden ticket competition to win a place on Channel 4's Big Brother programme.

As reported recently in The Press, a member of the public will have a unique chance to become a housemate in this year's Big Brother house - if they find one of a hundred Willy Wonka-style golden tickets hidden inside KitKat wrappers.

On discovering a ticket, each of which is printed with a unique security coding, purchasers must phone a 24-hour hotline number for their chance to land a place in the show, which starts tonight.

The lucky winners of these tickets, having passed thorough background checks, will be invited to pack their bags, say goodbye to their loved ones and head down to the Big Brother studios for a special live TV broadcast, where one of the lucky ticketholders will then be chosen at random to enter the house. The competition closes on Friday June 2, at 10.20pm. Forty KitKat juggernauts recently left the York factory containing thousands of bars and 100 of the tickets hidden inside.

The trucks had been loaded under a maximum security operation overseen by a team of security staff from Big Brother, and were escorted by motorcycle escorts, headed for retail depots across the country.

The KitKats are due to go on sale at 10.30pm today.

The Channel 4 show has hidden 100 of the tickets inside special bars.

One of the lucky ticket-holders will be chosen at random to win a place in the Big Brother house.

A MODEL agency pal of Calum Best has bagged a BB Golden Ticket.

Mohammed “Nad” Butt, 24, was over the moon last night because he auditioned for the series and was IGNORED.

Londoner Nad, who parties with pin-ups Jordan and Michelle Marsh, said: “Imogen’s hot. If I get inside the house it won’t be much of a battle with Sezer.”

Five tickets have so far been found inside the special Kit Kat bars. One of the 100 winners will be selected to enter the house on June 9.
