"The Conservatives have already called for Channel 4 bosses to apologise after contestants on the show were reprimanded for speaking Welsh. "
How silly am I getting!!!

The more I think about this, the more annoyed I become! Surely there must be something more important to discuss in paliament than whether Big Brother should apologise for enforcing the rules.

*shakes head* Boy oh boy. Boy oh boy oh boy.

I think End'em'all should employ a couple of translators, and provide subtitles. Welsh people, as citizens of the United Kingdom, have a right to converse in their own language. :D

Oddly enough I was just thinking if they knew that there were 2 fluent welsh speakers in the house surely they would have a Welsh speakn ing mod to ensure they do not discuss noms.
But if the rules state all HMs must speak English and they signed up to it,then the rules have been broken.

Just wondering ,is this the same in other countries that there must be agreed a common language? In somewhere like BB South Africa, how do they decide what that common tongue should be?After all is their official language not Afrikaans?

They do on S4C, not on channel 4 it's English and Scottish. Maybe they should put up subtitles in Welsh on S4C's BB. This thread get's more daft by the minute ::lol::

The 2003 BBAfrica had housemates from different countries within Africa, and English was the official language of the house.

When it was just a BB South Africa series, I'm not sure what the rules were.

The Channel TV programme Big Brother has backtracked on a ruling that there is a ban on two of its current contestants talking to each other in Welsh - but any Welsh on the programme will be subtitled.

The voice of Big Brother had told a Welsh contender who spoke in his native tongue: "It's not English, and could be considered to be talking in code."

But after angry attacks from the Welsh Language Soceity and Welsh Conservaigves, a Big Brother spokeswoman said: "Housemates are free to talk in any established language of their choosing.

"However, any discussion that is deemed to be against Big Brother rules may be punishable. Big Brother is multi-lingual and always listening."

She added that any Welsh spoken on the programme would be translated via subtitling.

you don't speak a different language in front of people if you can speak English, it's bad manners as far as I'm concerned.
