Rex's parents split up when he was 12 or so.

He now lives in his father's house, and as it was his dad who employed him, I guess Rex sees him as the primary parent.

I might have thought that Rex was estranged from his mother, but that is not the case, as he mentioned during BB that he cooks Christmas lunch at his mother's.

The Family completely fake, apparently the production crew had get the other families in their street to move out (so they could store all there vt equipment)

hardly a realistic portrayal of the modern family when they haven't got any neighbours
