The 2006 season of Big Brother Australian and UK will run as usual at the same time and format. Australian viewers will be treated to a weekly update of whats happening in the UK house on Thursday nights. Once both houses reach five housemates they will be combined into a single house and will battle it out to see who wins "Transcontinental Big Brother".

A seperate "World-wide Big Brother" will screen on Channel 10, four weeks prior to the begining of BB6. The countries taking part will be Australia, the UK and the USA. Two previous housemates from each country will enter the house:

America: Eddie & Jun
UK: Brian & Nadia
Australia: Ben & Regina

The housemates will work in pairs to complete weekly tasks and through eliminations by housemate vote (rather than public vote), will be reduced to three housemates in the last week. The public will then have the final say, however will be unable to vote for housemates from their native country

Early in the year, many fan websites claimed that many international Big Brother housemates will pop into the Australian house as part of a ‘Big Brother World’ special. Then this popped onto to the official website:

“BB06 will (as per usual) run at the same time in Australia and the UK - but this time producers will take advantage of the parallel paths. There will be a massive international exchange with several HMs criss-crossing the globe to spend time in both houses”
