If you got to your Profile (see link at the top of the page), and set the option Always allow HTML: to 'No', then the Disable HTML in this post checkbox (found underneath the textbox used to write your message when posting) will be automatically checked (ticked) everytime you post.

This will allow you to quote other posters (and yourself, if you are that egotistical) as freely as before.

Don't worry about disabling HTML* in posts. Frankly no-one should or needs to be using HTML in posts when the BB code covers everthing you would need to do in your posts (apart from making a wet fish come out of the screen and slap posters you don't like).

That's an additional mod(ification) to the forum software.

We'll just have to wait for Christine/Bob to re-install it.

If anyone needs to upload something, here's an alternative suggestion.

Create a free web space account somewhere (Yahoo!, Netfirms) that allows hotlinking (being able to have an image file on one site but link to it (display it) on another site (ie BBFans).

If you have a free Yahoo! mail account, then you also have free Geocities web space.

You can upload any images you have to Geocities or Netfirms through your web browser (without needing separate FTP upload software).

Then, just take a note of the full URL of the image (e.g. http://www.geocities.com/myusername/myfilename.jpg) and directly link to it in your posts by putting it between the two 'BB code' tags (used to display an 'in post' image) as normal.

[img]http://www.geocities.com/myusername/myfilename.jpg[/img]

There are loads of other alternatives out there, such as Imageshack, etc. You may even have free web space provided by your ISP (Wanadoo, AOL, Blueyonder).

Check it out. It can be fun. {@}

I have disabled the html altogether in the admin panel, so the box shouldn't now appear under the 'post a reply' box. Hopefully, this should resolve the situation without members having to amend their profiles. Please let me know if it doesn't.

With regards to the attachments, we are aware that we need to do that and it is on our long list of jobs to do.
