DO we care that nine of the contestants have been trialled for previous Big Brother shows?
The Sun reports that Pete has been groomed for a Big Brother stint from series two. He featured on Vanessa Nimmo’s introduction video – and she was on Big Brother Five.

Imogen was on the rehearsals for Big Brother Four. Also on that test run were Eugene and Kinga from BB5, and Chantelle Houghton, who managed to out celeb the celebs on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year.

And there’s Sezer. The paper says that he was chosen last year. He even had a brief affair with Becki Seddiki, a 33-year old bi-sexual singer and trainee florist who has her name tattooed on her back. She was on Big Brother Five.

All this may serve to explain why it was that on entering the house some of the contestants seemed to know each other. And why Sezer said: “The ceilings were lower the last time I was here.”

But should we mind?

Contestants on the show know what to expect by now. There is not going to be another Jade Goody asking if the cameras are still on.

These contestants are not just looking for a few weeks on the telly – they are in search of fame.

Our enjoyment is in knowing that not all of them can achieve their dream. And with Chantelle very much at large, the chances of even one of these wannabes making it big are further diminished. Can there be two Big Brother winners in one year?

The sad fact is that C4/Endemol probably have haft of next years housemates already selected.
Makes an insult to all those who do make the effort to queue up.

Calrissian: trying to be positive

Well as I recall Maxwell had been in before and Saskias Dad was a boss of something at the studios.

Why the hell do they hold auditions all around the country then.

The problem I have with it is all these "been there before" or "connected to studio" people ARE known to the people making the show who as we have seen in the past can twist things to favour the publics perception of who should go.

As I recall many people were asking how Maxsmell and Sarkicow managed to avoid being put to the public vote for so long, and it also makes me question if these people are pre-known to the program makers, how much do they know about what they should and shouldnt do.

If this year the 2 who rushed to the DR and became founders of Big Brotherhood had been previous HM or connected with Endemol, how would we know that they werent given the nod that they should get to the DR when BB asks for 2 HM's.

We dont.... and they didnt, but how could we have trusted BB if they had, we would just have to as we do with everything else BB does.

I do think BB have decided what they will do to who before they even enter the house for real and they will adapt the play as the show progresses, to reach whatever outcome they want to. Trouble for BB is it does not always work.

It's so annyoing, I am really disapointed with BB7 so far...it's identical to last year so far, extreme characters who don't have a likeable bone in their bodies...all of them connected with past series, past contestants, production staff, models, wannabe singers, been on TV before, shagged celebs etc etc

I thought for sure after BB7 they would have learned their lesson, it got the lowest ratings of ANY series (yes, even lower than BB4) and the fans always list it as their least or second least favourite.

Why on earth are they trying to repeat such a bad series?!

The production team really are cowards. And lazy cowards at that. Pick some REAL people! Not a bunch of desperate, do anything you tell them, yes-puppets.

This is all against the spirit of BB, it's supposed to be 'ordinary' people selected by character for the purpose of giving us entertaining, original, unpredictable TV.

Instead, we have trained poodles performing to pre-rehearsed (often for a year or two) routines. And some of those routines are VERY old hat now.

Speaking of which, and this is their number 1 routine for the lab-rats: No wonder Imogen & Sleazer, Grace & Mikey so quickly fell into bed!

What a terrible sham the show is.

People: DON'T VOTE!! It's as contrived as any political election.

Bollox! The whole thing is even more of a deliberately-staged, money-grabbing farce than I thought (and I also say that the more I study politics).

It's getting now that we could easily swap politicians around with BB contestants, so long as each follows the script written for them.

I'll still keep posting though.

I do find it annoying that it is no longer general public but those in the know! (even Cameron had a brother in the business) I'm sure it makes people behave differently especially if they have been tipped off on how to behave. grrr

Not really, because they may get chosen for the dummy run for this year and then appear on subsequent BB's. Also, the ones who have been in the dummy run, would have had to queue up originally.

Although, it also said that Sezer did still go to the auditions and apply again this year like everyone else. He wasn't just chosen from the dummy run people and asked to go on the show.

People still need to attend the auditions, because otherwise where would BB get the dummy run people from?

Some of them are headhunted anyway, like the despicable Derek.

Plus so MANY of the HMs this year are BB/Reality TV 'veterans'.

I don't think ANYBODY who has participated in a dry-run should go in. I'd even say, apply once and if unsuccessful, forget it.

The 'dry-runners' definitely should NEVER enter the actual series. For one, they have an advantage over other HMs, for another, it is supposed to be a unique, new experience and spontaneous.

Now all we have are very-savvy BB lifers, who know what the producers want (cheap, fake romance) and who think they can trick the public.

True, with the show into it's seventh year, we are all used to the format and any purity/novelty has long gone, but I think contestants should NOT have first (second-) hand experience of the internal workings of the format.

It entirely destroys the concept for me.

Send previous HMs in? Haven't they already done just that?

Yeah but if all real HM have done dummy run then they are not exactly "off the street".

People should either be real HM OR dummy run HM. When you have a house where the majority have done it all before, then it is a bit pointless.

As I said before this makes you wonder who on the dummy runs has become matey with those who make up the rules as they go along.

What next year, Producers sister and mother, Directors bit of fluff from 2 months ago, Task masters ex wife who has threatened to take him for all his worth in a divorce settlement unless he gets her on TV, where does it stop.



The fact is the HM do not appear to be those who have auditioned for the current years show but those who audtioned for previous shows who probably have the phone numbers of previous BB HM as well as the behind the scenes people.

This is supposed to be a non scripted reality show, yet all those who have been in house before never mention it to the other HM's which is not very real as if you had experienced what they are now all experiencing in the past you would say so, unless you have been told not to mention the fact you were there before and went out for dinner with the producer and slept with his pet dog in exchange for getting into the real house.

Sezar hasnt mentioned the fact that he sold his story about his fling with Becky to the papers, something you would think you would mention in passing to other HM's.

It is a total farce having what appears to be a large ring of people who all know each other or have mutual friends are the majority of the contestants in the house.

Any other game/ competetion does not allow entries from those connected to the game. e.g. employees of xxx and their families may not participate.

We are all put about about cash for houses, cash for peerages, political asylum for sex, yet entry to BB house for being a mate or friend or mate of a friend or previous HM or friend of production team member, seems to be ok.

The original concept of the show was to have a group of people who had NEVER had any prior contact, and be put into a situation which they'd never done before.

Most of this years have actually LIVED in that house/TV set before, as well as few having met.

The true BB has passed, maybe as far back as BB3/4.

What we have now are a group of long time desperado's, most of whom are whores to the media.

Much of the show is predictable, along with all the cartoon characters we now get as standard. However, I'll stick with it for a while, it still makes for curious entertainment.

I think at least if its inevitable that we now have these...people make it onto the show and the innocense is lost and can't be got back....the show should be changed dramatically, let then discuss noms like in USA BB, have the 3 point vote system like Oz BB etc.

It seems stupid to have the show evolve so much in some ways, but kept the same in others.

I didn't mind so much that it was rumoured that Maxwell had been on a dummy run for a previous BB, but this year takes the biscuit

sure all the people who have been on dummy queued up, but if they didn't make it through before (despite making it as far down the line as being dummy/trial contestant), maybe some of the tens of thousands of new applicants from this year should get a chance

what is the point in queueing up if your best chance on getting on is following year?

I think next year they should expand the golden ticket idea to all housemates so we have a truely random bunch.

To be absolutely honest I'm reading this and thinking that no I don't really care. However I do think Ally's idea is brilliant! Make it all golden ticket next year and then Endemol have NO power over who is picked.
