Transvestite joins Big Brother

30-May-2006
Marc Shoffman

A transvestite has joined the Big Brother house long with a model, to replace gay Muslim Shahbaz, and Dawn who was told to leave after breaking the rules of the reality show last week.

The two new housemates were won last night in a Meal or No Meal task, when Aisleyne, a 27 year old promotions girl, and Sam, an 18 year old Indonesian transvestite, were revealed as the prizes.

For the past three days, the housemates have been taking part in a task competing to win their luxury shopping list worth £500. However, unbeknownst to the housemates, last night’s game instead gave them the chance to win two new additions to the house.

In four boxes outside in the garden were some toilet roll and miscellaneous household goods, a speedboat and two new housemates, but with no clue as to the contents of each box.
Pete was responsible for answering the four questions about the ‘Meal Or No Meal’ task to win the bonus prizes. Glyn remained outside opening the boxes in the garden, while the remaining housemates watched live via the plasma screen in the living room. In total, the housemates won toilet rolls and other miscellaneous household items , followed by both new housemates Aisleyne and Sam. Pete failed to win the speedboat prize.

Sam, a nail technician, is fluent in Malay, Indonesian and French as he is half Indonesian and half Scottish. He was born in Indonesia and grew up there for seven years before moving to Scotland. He left school at 16 and began working after a short time at college.

Sam loves shopping and once spent £495 on a Louis Vuitton handbag. He also loves bingo. It usually takes him three hours to get ready for a night out due to his extensive beauty regime. In spite of this, he thinks that being a woman would be fun as the hair, make-up and clothes “are so much nicer”.

He describes himself as fun, lively, caring, accepting and non-judgmental. He says he has strong opinions, especially about sexuality discrimination, animal cruelty and corrupt governments, particularly those in Southeast Asia. He says that sex is “an everyday fantasy”. He idolizes Oprah Winfrey and would love to have met Diana, Princess of Wales.

Reality bites

Regina Lavelle

30/05/2006

During the first Big Brother I happened to be in Australia. We missed, or perhaps ignored, the build-up, the event and the post mortems.
We arrived back to Ireland that December, confronted by a host of new “celebrities” whose existence to us was even more bizarre than they were to the normal person.
As a result I’ve never quite got the whole BB phenomenon. I’ve never sat through an entire episode, never mind felt an affinity to any of the contestants. BB has passed me by.
This year however Channel 4 and E4 are determined to convert BB philistines like myself.
Not only is there round-the-clock coverage of the contestants, the primetime schedule has been commandeered by a range of spin-off shows.
It was the spin-offs that drew me in. Then before I knew it I was flicking over, mid-afternoon, to see if anything exciting was happening.
What caught my attention however was the size of the female contestants.

PETE WINS HUMAN PRIZES IN BIG BROTHER QUIZ

Two glamorous new arrivals walked into the Big Brother house tonight after Tourette's syndrome sufferer Pete succeeded in a game show task.

Aisleyne and Sam joined the house after a determined Pete Stephenson, 24, correctly answered three out of four quiz questions in the diary room.
The two were hidden in big red boxes in the garden and burst out to the amazement of Glyn Wise, 18, who was charged with retrieving the prizes.

Aisleyne, 27, a model and promotions girl from London, asked him: "Am I a good prize?" He replied: "Yes, and good looking as well."

Sam, 18, a nail technician from North Ayrshire , said: "Oh my God!" several times as she took in her new surroundings for the first time.

TV host Davina McCall explained that Sam was biologically a man, but for the purposes of the show, would be referred to as a woman.

New Big Brother arrivals disappoint bookmakers

Tue May 30, 2006 2:50 PM BST

(Reuters) - New Big Brother arrivals Aisleyne and Sam have disappointed bookmakers as well as stirring up more arguments in the camera-filled house, with runaway favourite Pete now even more strongly tipped to win.

William Hill quoted both at a mere 14/1 and shortened the odds on Tourette's sufferer Pete to 8/11 on.

"BB7 looks like a Pete procession at the moment and sadly for us the new housemates look unlikely to change that," said a Hills spokesman.

Within 5 minutes of the new arrivals on Monday evening, existing housemates Imogen, Sezer and Grace began bad-mouthing them.

Aisleyne, a 27-year-old-blonde with aspirations of pop stardom, sparked jealousy, especially amongst Imogen and Sezer who called her stupid and manipulative.

Indonesian-born Sam is an 18-year-old man who enjoys make-up and dressing in women's clothes and will be referred to in future as a woman by host Davina McCall.

Both will be exempt from Tuesday's round of eviction nominations and have been asked not to reveal anything from the outside world to the existing 11 housemates.

In their first trip to the Diary Room, they acknowledged their lack of welcome but Sam put her foot down, saying she wasn't going to let "bullies" push her around.

Both said they felt "apprehensive."

SCOTS TRANSVESTITE IN HOUSE

TWO NEW HOUSEMATES JOIN BB Exclusive Scots transvestite in house

BIG Brother said hello to its latest housemate last night - another Scots cross-dresser.

Less than a week after gay Glaswegian Shahbaz walked out, the house welcomed Sam, from Ayrshire.

The stunning nail technician was all kisses and cuddles as he introduced himself to unsuspecting BB housemates after they "won" him in a gameshow task.

But the Record can exclusively reveal that glam Sam, 18, was previously Samuel Brodie, a chubby swot who decided to start cross-dressing while still a pupil at Greenwood Academy in Irvine.

One ex-classmate told the Record last night: "Sam was a real geek - a fat kid with trousers that were too short and a member of the chess club.

"But when he was in third year, he went away to Indonesia to visit his family and came back as this really glamorous female.

"Nobody could believe the difference but he didn't get a really hard time about it. People weren't too kind but he didn't face a lot of violence because of it or anything.

"I think people in Irvine were more stunned than anything else.

"Sam doesn't wear dresses and things like transvestites, but he likes to wear women's tops and trousers and look like a woman.

"He does make an absolutely stunning woman, though, and he tends not to tell people that he's actually a guy, which can lead to embarrassing situations."

Swotty Sam, who lives on his own in Irvine, was an A-grade pupil at school but has worked in a string of call-centre jobs since he left.

School pal Ashley Mitchell confided: "Sam lives on a different planet altogether. You could never completely believe the things he told you, but I gave him a loan of £50 when he said he needed to go to London for a second Big Brother audition.

"He was talking about it all the time and saying he was going on the show but nobody knew whether to believe him. He has been a transvestite since being at school though he never came out and said he was gay.

"Sam is really smart and got top marks for all his exams but he didn't seem to want to go to Uni or get a good job and instead worked in a string of call-centre jobs.

"He always wanted to be famous and so this will be the moment he has been waiting on all his life."

Sam was introduced to the house after Pete won the final round of the Meal or No Meal gameshow task.

By answering the questions correctly, he won the "bonus prizes" of Sam and another new contestant, blonde model Aisleyne, 27.

The housemates ran to the garden as Aisleyne and Sam burst from their gift boxes. Sam repeatedly screamed "Oh my God" as he was introduced.

TV row results in court appearance
May 30 2006
Western Mail

AN argument while watching Big Brother sparked a row between a man and his partner to which police were called, magistrates heard yesterday.

Christopher Messenger of Colwyn Bay appeared at a special court at Llandudno accused of common assault on Chloe Palmer on Friday and with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

His solicitor Gwyn Jones said, "I'm sure Big Brother has caused lots of arguments for many households and this was no exception."

Messenger was granted bail until next Monday at Denbigh court.
