The current favourite to win Big Brother, Mikey, has admitted that he once considered walking out on the Big Brother experience.

Mikey is currently the 11/4 favourite to win Big Brother with Stan James and Blue Square but punters could have been let down early when he revealed to Kathreya that he contemplated leaving the house early.

Mikey's the new favourite? I didn't see that coming! Mikey's quite a decent character, but I must admit (and this sounds awful) I'd be kinda pissed if another disabled person won the show, it's taking the cake a bit. I'd like Darnell or Lisa to win, or Kat -she has a good heart, even though she is a one-trick pony.

But I don't think that Mikey's win would have anything to do with his disability. I mean, there are people who would say 'I'd like it if the blind guy won', but they are not going to vote for him to win, unless they actually like him. And hopefully, by being in the house, he'll have succeeded in convincing people that he's more than willing to be judged by the same criteria as any other Housemate.

I think his currently popularity is due to his quick wit and lack of hysterics.

I don't think it is very fair (personally) to not want someone to win just because they have a disability. Fair enough not to want him to win if you don't like his personality or whatever but can't understand why him being blind should really come into it.

I have to say I'd be looking for a more rounded HM than someone winning just because of a single notable facet.

Mikey could well yet show more of himself and be that winner but at the moment he's still a little short of ticking all the boxes. The only ones to have crossed the winners line so far are Darnell, Mohamed and Rachel. Rex is close and so is Lisa. But the others still have more to do.

I'm hoping, seriously, that we can have an entire group of HMs at the end not only capable of winning but be worthy of it too. Now that really would be making BB history. ()^

Rex is close?

If it was a cliff, I'd understand - and I'd be more than willing to push him over...but otherwise... :puke:

I think Mikey ticks more boxes than Mo.
I think Rachel's lovely.
I think Lisa has earned her place in the house.
I think Darnell COULD win it - far more likely than...oh back to my favourite subject...exactly how close to the edge of that cliff is Rexy? ::lol::

At the moments, the odds suggest that we do:

Mikey 2/1
Darnell 3/1
Kat 7/2
Rachel 5/1

Rex has drifted out a lot, but if he somehow survived to final night(looking unlikely) then he'd be up there as well. And Lisa is at 16/1 now but could yet sneak in the mix as well if she's there at the end. Can't remember a BB with that many people with a half decent chance of winning in ages!

Thanks Finchy, kinda feeds into my reply for GG ()^

GG, I'm not suggesting that Rex (or any of them) should win. Just that taking an objective view of their trials and tribulations throughout the series, some HMs score more than others.

Personally, I doubt Rex will last the final stretch but so far he's been a character and a half. Lisa too, I agree is a fully paid up member of the House but she looks seriously light-weight in some areas.

Mohamed is a problem. On paper he beats the lot of them (even Darnell I'd argue) but the public are still shy of him (the gamblers even more so) but he is improving and fast. Today, DS threads for Mohamed were running at around 20%, that's double what any other HM was getting. C4 Forums also had more conversations about him (and yeah, some of them negative) than anyone else.

Mikey is another that has improved massively since Luke/Bex stopped sucking all the oxygen out of the House.

Kat is struggling, she's clearly a good HM but is she a great one? Kat's chances of winning will depend on the public voting for her at the last minute because she's adorable or nice... sadly, these superficial qualities seem not to be in vogue this year otherwise the public wouldn't be so keen to string up Dale and Stuart.

Personally I'm ignoring the odds at the moment because they'll swing hugely on who survives the next week or two... and lets not forget, just one big slip up now and the public will be ruthlessly after someone's blood. I've also noticed that in past years, the bookies tend to punish those repeatedly facing eviction while the public rewards those surviving them. Its a contradition that makes the risk of being evicted seem higher than it really is?

Whatever happens, I'm just pleased there are HMs remaining (and will likely continue to be) that I could vote for in the final... most finals I usually end up voting just to stop the buffoon winning because all the decent ones have gone.

Darnell is in a way disabled - he can't see very well. In fact, he didn't seem very pleased at the beginning when he found there was a blind guy in there. I think he wanted to be the 'different' one and get the sympathy vote.

Damn I came across really bad on this thread - I think what I'm trying to say, really badly is, like for example when Pete won BB that time, everyone was all 'He's adorable, he's amazing' but I didn't think he was THAT great! He was probably one of the best alright, but at times he was quite boring - I wouldn't have called him 'Amazing'. Whereas someone like Nadia was bloody funny and very real. Darnell talks a lot of sense when he talks about disabilities and all the co-dependent stuff that comes with it. Mikey is one of the best left out of the group, but personally I think I'd like to see Lisa win it now, or Darnell, or Kat. As for Rex....GET HIM OUT!

No, no, don't apologise.

Well, maybe for liking Nadia. ;)

I don't like it when people sympathise (patronise more like) with a HM to the extent of electing them winner.

I think this has benefitted Nadia, Pete and to a lesser extent, Brian Belo. And I'd say the same was true of that useless lunk who won BB:CH in January (I've genuinely forgotten his name!).

It was a relief when Eugene DIDN'T win BB6. Not because the Dancing Chimp was a worthy winner, but he deserved it more than Eugene who people were pitying rather than rewarding, if they're honest with themselves.

I hope if people do vote for Mikey to win, they are doing it because he makes them laugh (or because it's a solidarity vote from other pervs) not because they want to compensate him for the disability of being from the West of Scotland. Oh all right, for being blind.

Oh

I never realised that people had been doing that? For me, I wanted him to win just to 'stick it to the man'. I found it a rather delicious prospect that the English Eccentric might beat the Jack the Lad. But then I've always favoured the under-dogs over the dead-certs'.

I will concede though that over the series, Disco Ant probably did more to earn the win than Eugene but only just... and helped enormously by an adoring Production Team.

Mikey has been quite entertaining taking on Rex - Rex, a person who is happy to dish it out but won't take it.
For instance, Rex bleated on & on about wanting to leave for weeks(probably protesting too much in my opinion), but Mikey hearing this constantly told him to walk through the security door - something Lisa did last Friday.
Quite amusing.
Mikey also told Rex on last night's edit to stop moaning about his(Mikey's) & Nicole's disgruntlement with the washing up punishment. Rex gave his usual boastful comment about cooking for hundreds but made no accurate mention about how his rich & successful dad had helped his career. Funny that.

Mikey has been helped via Endemol's PC broadcasting at times, but not always.
Dislike Jennifer all you like & her obsession with z-list fame but as she pointed out when she was in the house, Mikey has made many crude sexual comments, some of which we haven't seen.

Mikey may have a had a good two weeks, become favourite to win at this moment, but we still have to wait and see about Darnell, Kathreya & Lisa.

Darnell has made many astute comments & is the kind of person who would destroy a bully.
However, he's been wobbly too. He is very insecure as the history of his relationship with Sara shows. Plus the fact that he can be too intense at times.
We will have to see how his relationship with Sara pans out.

Kathreya is still likeable, always the person who wants people to get along.
The possible 'cookie' advert will be a nightmare though.
She observes everything very closely, but like John said, she has had no defining moment.

Lisa has the baggage of Mario to deal with - Mario has already said TV companies are interested in a package involving he & Lisa - a possible 'Richard & Judy on Living TV or some other digital channel. Good grief.

Lisa continues to do well though. No doubt Mario will want to shine in Lisa's reflected glory if she does well but BB9 taught him an important lesson.
Mario expected to be the main & strong character in his relationship with Lisa but was surprised that he was viewed as 'comic' by the BB viewers - & George Lamb. ;)
