Calrissian: time for lunch. (Fish not on the menu today)

Housemate Rachel Rice was devastated to discover a Big Brother goldfish lying on its side on Wednesday morning.

Heaven, who was one of two fish given to the house last week, was found by the Welsh teacher motionless at the bottom of its bowl this morning.

A teary Rachel shouted for assistance - only for head of house Mikey Dalton and Rex Newmark to tell her Heaven will probably die.

Rachel said: 'It's too hot for them! This house is too hot for them. I'm going to pour cold water in the bowl.'

But Mikey told Rachel the fish will likely die because his own goldfish had passed away after he saw it lying on its side.

Rex then announced both fish will probably die because the housemates have been feeding them too much.

He said: 'I've never seen anything so ridiculous in my life. You've been over-feeding them. It's simple - they'll both die.'

As of mid-afternoon today, Heaven was still alive.

The goldfish has gone to a better plaice...

We're accustomed to housemates making a bid for freedom but most of time they manage to make it out of the door. But one member of the Big Brother House has swam off for good. It's our first casualty series - one of the goldfish has left the building. At least it didn't get flushed down the loo.

"It's not your fault, you tried your best," comforted Kat as Rachel glumly made her way to the Diary Room with the dead fish. "You've been with it the whole morning."

"Let's cook it!" suggested Mohamed, possibly earning himself a battering.

"He's dead, Rex. He's totally gone," Rachel told Rex crabbily as he peered into a little cup that contained the ex-fish.

"I'm just gutted, I keep thinking if I did something different..." Rachel sobbed in the Diary Room. Doesn't she know you can't do anything about acts of cod?

"Look after him please, it's a sad day. It just looks like he was unable to survive the Big Brother House. I don't blame him," said Mikey in the little room. You're telling us. "We done the best to give him medicine and by this morning it was too late, we were counting the hours away." Maybe it was just time for it to go up to the big fish pond in the sky.

Big Brother comforted Rachel and instructed to bring the other fish too. Hopefully it wasn't off to join it's sole-mate, just yet...

SAD news in the BB house this morning - Heaven, the goldfish has fallen ill. The goldfish, which popped up with another fishy friend last week, had been happily swimming around in the tank until this morning. Rachel, who was first to check, became increasingly distressed as she clapped eyes on Heaven lying on his side at the bottom of the bowl. Sun

She’s over fed it. IMO Too much food bloats them and they float on their side, alas then people think they are dead when in fact if they don’t feed them for a while it sorts itself.

HAHA, yes, such lunatics are indeed out there right now phoning the RSPCA about such things. Maybe we should phone the RNIB about the Islamic attack on Mikey? *If Mario was in the house, the fish would still be healthy. Calrissian: painting.

Or in our house. R.I.P. Domingo Julio Pedro Rodriquez, and Gary. As soon as we upgraded them to a posher tank, they were on their way to that great big ocean in the sky. By the time I got to Gary, it was too late for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. But now there's a family of water snails, living in the tank.

They must have given him a second chance after Davina described him as an 'awesome' housemate, a statement that shocked even him due to how untrue it was. Let's hope he hasn't brought Grace with him

*The Daily Mail has been on an inexorable slide for years now. In terms of reliability, it is probably only 2-3 years away from becoming a mirror of the Daily Star. --- I'd like to see BB stick some real beasties in there. A pair of Hippos would do just fine.
