THE blind Scot who was runner-up in television reality show Big Brother is set to study at Glasgow University - 15 years after being rejected.
And he has urged youngsters to copy him and "follow their dreams and work hard".
Mikey Hughes, 33, told students at Kilmarnock College how he was rejected by Glasgow University and advised by staff to study an HND in social studies.
Despite this setback, Mikey, from Kilwinning, went on to achieve a degree in management at another university and a masters in philosophy.
And just a few weeks ago, after his spell on Big Brother was over, he was astonished when a professor at Glasgow University phoned him to suggest he study for a PhD in German War Economy.
