Kilwinning BB star meets Jordan and Blunkett
KILWINNING’s newest celebrity Mikey Hughes went to Westminster to campaign for blind rights, met Jordan and The Cheeky Girls at a celebrity party - but ended up back home entertaining at his local bowling club.
Channel Four’s Big Brother sensation Mikey made his was to London to join 1500 other blind people fighting for an increase in the mobility money they get each week.
The 33-year-old DJ, who works for specialist blind station Insight Radio, was representing the Royal National Institute for the Blind joined political powerhouse David Blunkett.
Mikey said: “Blind people at the moment only get something like £17 per week to pay for the taxis they need to get about. They need something more like £47 to help them get about otherwise they’ll get stuck in the house - that’s what this campaign is all about.”
