Roxanne Pallett has revealed that, like her Emmerdale character, she has first-hand experience of domestic violence.
The actress, who plays Jo Sugden, said that she can sympathise with her storyline, the Daily Star reports.
The 25-year-old has also agreed to feature in a calendar to raise awareness of the problem.
The Celebrity Happy Places calendar depicts celebrities in a place where they feel happy and safe.
It also features former Corrie star Denise Welch, East 17 star Tony Mortimer and
