This or That? They Decide


"For today's Task," read Marcus, "five housemates will each take part in a quiz in order to win treats and tokens for a wild party. When instructed to do so by Big Brother, housemates will have two minutes to choose which five housemates they deem to be the most perceptive," he added, before the inevitable scrum began

Marcus revealed that the housemates would be called into the Diary Room one by one, each winning a Token for taking part and that their attempts at the quiz would be beamed back to the House on to the Plasma Screen.

Yikes!

So, after a bit of umm-ing and ahh-ing the competing housemates were chosen:

Lisa would compete to win sweets for the party

Hira would compete for music for the party

Bea would compete for take-away food

Halfwit would compete for alcohol

Marcus would compete to win extra Tokens for the group

Let's hope the housemates general knowledge is up to scratch…

Marcus's latest outburst has certainly left something lingering and unpleasant in the House. The look on everyone's faces when he emerged from the Diary Room revealed everything, but Bea decided she should add to it and speak up.

"I'm appreciative of the fact that you're down at the moment," she said quietly but firmly, "but I think the negativity that has been put on to you is not going to do you any favours if you express it to them."

"There wasn't any need to knock the thing off, or call them a *****," she added.

"There was a need to call them a *****," replied Marcus "'cause I was in the Diary Room for two hours last night telling them what to do to make everyone happy. And they know me and Charlie don't like Indian food," he added, trying to draw Charlie into the growing row.

But Bea was worried about upsetting Big Brother further. "I don't think we should moan about that. The mood that they're in, they might not give us anything. I think we should be grateful for what we've got and stay positive," she said with a concerned look, before telling Marcus the ideal way of changing things in the House "Be the change you wish to see," she said kindly, adding "if we want positivity, we've got to act positively."

"Would you say that if you didn't like the food?" replied Marcus petulantly.

By this point, David felt he needed to chip in too. "As the saying goes, beggars can't be choosers," he said.

But Marcus was in full selfish mode. "I'm here to be me and nothing anyone is going to say to me is going to stop me doing those things," he spat..

But Lisa already had him in her sights. "I think you're struggling to take responsibility for your own actions," she announced. "On all sorts of levels it's not good for people to be around negativity," she added.

When Quizzes Go Bad

Big Brother likes to test the housemates resolve with difficult Tasks, but Big Brother also likes to set silly Tasks to lighten the atmosphere in the House – like a guessing game. So, housemates were called into the Diary Room to answer questions on a 50/50 basis to win stuff for the party.

Lisa had to look at a series of pictures and decide whether they showed a frog, or a toad. Answering five questions correctly, Lisa won chocolate and nougat bars, red shoe laces, flying saucers, chewy sweets and cola bottles for the party

Hira's pictures were of stoats and weasels and she only managed to answer two correctly, winning the tracks ‘Nellie the Elephant’ and ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’ for the party.

Bea was shown some pictures of animals that were either alive, or stuffed and she managed to answer six correctly, winning a selection of take-away treats for the party.

When Halfwit's turn came, he had to identify whether a series of animal sounds were made by a human, or an animal. Getting four questions right ensured that the housemates would have Champagne, beer and alcopops for the party.

And then it was Marcus's turn. Assuming his usual 'petulant child' position in the Diary Room, Big Brother should've guessed that trouble was coming and boy did it come.

Big Brother explained that Marcus's Task was to identify whether housemates had been using percentages properly. "It's called mathematical sense, or mathematical nonsense," Big Brother told him.

"You ******," sneered Marcus.

Big Brother would probably have overlooked Marcus's indiscretion, except when he'd answered all the questions, he broke the stand the question boards had been mounted on.

"Do I get this one as well yeah?" Marcus crowed as he sat back in the Chair.

But Marcus was in for a shock.

"Marcus, you've just forfeited the three bonus Tokens," announced Big Brother.

"Don't be a *****," laughed Marcus

But Big Brother wasn't laughing.

"And Marcus," continued Big Brother, "because you called Big Brother a ****** and a *****, you are forfeiting that Token as well."

Marcus still couldn't keep his mouth shut. "You're a ******* ******** as well," he shouted as he threw the Token on the floor.

"Marcus, Big Brother will deal with you later. You may now leave the Diary Room."

Ooh, you in big trouble boy…

After what seemed like an eternity in the Diary Room, Marcus finally emerged, blinking, under the bright lights of the House. And although his tail wasn’t between his legs, he was certainly less 'in your face' than when he was called in.

"You alright?" asked Lisa as Marcus headed for the Bathroom.

"Yeah, I've just been trying to get the tokens back and stuff and explained why I did the stuff," replied Marcus quietly, before explaining in some detail that he thought Big Brother had treated him harshly.

"I didn't do that out of negativity," he continued. "I done that 'cause it's something in my character to do and as soon as I did it, everyone would laugh and say that's typically me," he added in an attempt to explain his actions.

And then came the apology – that's right, the apology!

"I fully apologise if anyone took what I did the wrong way and the consequences that have come from that," Marcus announced, "but I am not a negative person. I've never dwelled on negative things in here. I wake up happy and I wake up thinking of good things to do and I stay up all night thinking of things to do for everyone."

Ever the chirpy soul, David wanted to just forget about it and move on. "Well, it's all done now," he said cheerily, "let's have a party tonight. Let's all be part of the party Marcus."

But Marcus had a few more things to say – specifically about the fact that he lost Tokens for the group. "Obviously I can replace them with my blue Tokens, and for the other two Tokens I can take money out of my money from the Shopping List, just so there's a line drawn under it," he said meekly.

"I appreciate that," said David, "but they were your Tokens."

"I don't think there's any need to do that," added Bea, echoing David's sentiments.

"Well, it's just a gesture from me to you lot," appealed Marcus.

"We're a team – it's all good," said Hira with a gentle smile.
