Big Brother recorded its lowest viewing figure in nine years as the final series began on Wednesday night.
Just 4.6million tuned into the beginning of the 95-minute show, rising to a peak of 5.4million. Another 460,000 caught up an hour later on C4+1. But it still beat BBC1's Junior Apprentice, which had 4.3million, while ITV1's Father and Son had 3.9million.
The launch of BB's second series, in 2001, was watched by just 3.5million. The show's best opening night was 7.2million, in 2004.
