FACEBOOK FIRST FOR CHANNEL 5’s BIG BROTHER

Channel 5 and Endemol launch innovative new voting app on Facebook

Channel 5 and Endemol have today launched a new Facebook App that allows users to save or evict housemates with the click of a few buttons.

The new Facebook App will be announced live on Big Brother’s Bit on the Side (5*) on Tuesday, 13th September 2011.

Each vote will cost no more than 7 pence. The app is powered by Facebook Credits which can be bought quickly and easily via the Payments Tab in Facebook’s Account Settings or from the Big Brother Vote App on the BB Facebook page.

Facebook Credits are available from as little as £1.00 for 16 Facebook Credits – this would give users 16 votes. Or viewers can choose to purchase larger bundles of Facebook Credits and save money with a discounted rate.

Throughout the run of Big Brother 2011, Facebook Credits can be used whenever housemates are up for eviction and the standard voting lines are open. Viewers will be able to place up to 500 votes per eviction.

Agostino Di Falco, Partnerships Director, Channel 5 says: "We're very pleased that via Big Brother, we are the first broadcaster in the UK to use Facebook Credits as a voting mechanic. This fits very well with our ambition to retain the core essence of the show whilst adding relevant points of innovation which add value to viewers and potential marketing partners alike."

Christian Hernandez, Director Platform Partnerships, EMEA, Facebook says: “On a daily basis we see millions of people engaging with their favourite TV shows via Facebook. Producers like Endemol and broadcasters like Channel 5 are discovering new ways to expand this engagement. The Big Brother voting application is an innovative way for viewers to support their favourite contestants via Facebook and we are excited to see Endemol and Channel 5 bring it to market.”

Jeff Ford, Director of Programmes, Channel 5, adds: “Thanks to this integration with Facebook, we are able to provide Big Brother fans with the opportunity to vote via Facebook - a first in UK broadcasting. Big Brother is the sort of show that works extremely well in conjunction with social media platforms, and this app will allow fans to get even more involved in the show.”

500 votes on face 7pence each = 35 quid
500 votes via phone at 50p = 250 quid

umm where is the parity ? there is no point phone voting to save your fav as face book tools will slaughter you

C5 you aint fooling no one

Sure is, when people can watch it whenever they please and then discuss it 24 hours a day on the social media. Unfortunately no-one can so it's all rather pointless. It's like not letting a crowd into a football match and just flashing up the score now and again instead.

Conclusion: Jeff Ford is an idiot.

Umm yep a fool an his money seemingly are easily parted... :chicken: . BBs viewer ratings are also tanking now, just over a million for the main show and down as low as 125k for the after show bit with Willis.

The after show is crap! The same format, crowd, guests with Emma giggling like a fool. Do not wast an hour of restful sleep watching it, record and skip through it the next day, if you have 30seconds to spare that is.
