Day 59 9.25am Housemates are waking up to a very special day. Today, Alex turns 19 and tomorrow Tom will turn 21. Big Brother wakes the housemates with the pair’s favourite party song, Macarena, to get them all in the celebration mood. Louise wishes Alex “Happy Birthday!” as they all wake up and Alex, Louise and Tom do the Macarena dance routine in a line in the bedroom. 9.34am Aaron is alone in the garden, smoking. In the living area, Louise and Jay are indulging in some early morning conversation. Louise asks Jay if he has ever seen the “Lady Boys in Bangkok” show. She goes on to tell a story about someone mistaking her for a “lady boy” once and then asks Jay if he has ever had sex with a lady boy. “Why aye,” he answers and says that when he was in Thailand, him and his friends all did. In the Diary Room Big Brother is wishing Alex and Tom a happy birthday and tells them how they can earn a birthday party. Big Brother explains that every time Macarena is played into the house. Alex and Tom must perform the dance routine on a stage in the living area. “This is our kind of task,” Tom says, “Macarena isn’t just a dance, it’s a way of life.” Both Alex and Tom leave the diary room, excitedly singing the song. In the living area, Tom tells Aaron about him and Alex’s birthday task. When he hears that they have to dance every time Macarena is played into the house, he rolls his eyes. Big Brother plays Macarena into the house and Alex and Tom race to the stage and start to perform the dance routine. Aaron looks on before going outside to smoke. 12.51pm Big Brother has called Aaron, Jay and Louise to the diary room to ask if they want to buy the birthday girl and boy some presents. “Out of the money that’s being shared?” Aaron asks, “No way!” Aaron makes for the diary room door. Big Brother’s list of birthday options include luxury gifts priced up to £2000 and Big Brother reminds the housemates that they now have money to spend after the prize fund twist. Louise tells Big Brother that she has spoken to Alex about designer accessories before and says that Alex isn’t into designer things but “it would be nice to get them something.” Jay looks at the list of luxury gifts and tells Big Brother that they could have given them “an Argos catalogue or something!” to choose from. Aaron tells Big Brother that he is going to “say no, poppet” and Louise and Jay laugh. 2.08pm It has been 43 minutes since housemates declined to buy Alex and Tom expensive birthday gifts. In the kitchen, Louise asks Alex if she would spend two thousand pounds on a handbag. “It’s scandalous ain’t it!” she says. Big Brother calls Aaron, Jay and Louise to the diary room and offers them a different list of gifts to buy Alex and Tom. When Big Brother talks through this alternative list, Aaron says “and you’ve disrupted my washing up for this?!” He goes on to say that he doesn’t want to buy these expensive gifts out of “principal.” “I wouldn’t spend that money on my son,” he says. Looking down the list, Jay is shocked by the £500 shoes on offer and says that Alex could get a “t*t job in Bulgaria for that, not that she needs one!” Housemates once again decline the offer to buy Alex and Tom any presents, saying that they are too expensive. In the bedroom, Jay tries to start a conversation about accessories and possessions: “I miss my accessories from the outside world,” he tells Tom and they start talking about expensive watches. “I like watches,” says Tom, “I’ve never gone and bought a nice one though.” In the bathroom, Jay and Louise decide to buy Alex and Tom a special birthday gift, despite the price. “Shall we just go in [to the diary room]. You buy her the shoes and I’ll buy him the watch,” Jay says to Louise and she agrees. When they request the presents, Big Brother tells them that they are being “very generous.” The generous couple walk out of the diary room and Louise tells Jay that she feels good: “I feel better now, do you?” Jay replies that he “feels sick” at spending so much money but is happy. 3.41pm Jay and Louise are spending some quality time together and are snuggling in bed. In the diary room, Alex and Tom are being told about their second birthday task surprise. Big Brother tells them that in order to win a birthday cake, the pair must eat the ingredients of a cake. Both of them look down at the bowls of flour, sugar, vanilla essence, eggs and butter and put their hands over their mouths. In bed, Jay tells Louise that he is looking forward to spending more time with her outside the house. “I can’t wait until we get out the house and I can have a proper hold of you,” he tells her and she laughs. In the diary room, Alex and Tom are digging into their birthday cake ingredients. “This birthday cake had better be worth it!” Alex tells Big Brother as she continues to eat the unbaked ingredients. Big Brother asks Alex and Tom if they have ever eaten a candle before. The pair breaks the birthday candle in half and both chew, before washing it down with water. They grimace and shout “It’s horrible!” As Alex and Tom leave the diary room, Big Brother plays the Macarena into the house and both have to run to the stage to complete the routine. 6.26pm Big Brother announces that housemates have another task to complete before Alex and Tom can earn their joint birthday party. Aaron, Jay and Louise have to wrap the birthday duo in wrapping paper, from head to toe. Whilst Aaron concentrates on wrapping Tom up, Jay takes charge of wrapping Alex up and Louise tries to help in between. When they have finished, Alex and Tom sit next to each other on the sofas, unable to move or see as their eyes are covered by a wrapping paper mask. “I don’t even wanna go to a party after this,” Tom moans, “I’ve been sick today and now I’m melting.” Whilst they are all wrapped up, Aaron, Jay and Louise have been provided with materials to decorate the house for a party. Tom and Alex start to play a game of “I spy” to amuse themselves. “I spy with my little eye, something beginning with C,” says Tom. “Cardboard!” Alex responds, quickly and they both laugh. 8.19pm Jay and Louise have been called to the diary room to collect the birthday presents they ordered earlier. Jay lights the candles on a fairy cake tower and Louise carries the presents through to the main house. Housemates sing “Happy Birthday” as Alex and Tom are allowed to unwrap themselves. They are both shocked and excited by the party decorations around them. Louise and Jay give the pair the presents and Alex and Tom are shocked. Tom opens his watch and Alex looks over saying, “It’s stunning.” She is thrilled with her Jimmy Choos and Tom says that “this is the best birthday ever!” Aaron looks on from the sidelines and hugs Alex and Tom when they thank him for their presents. In the living area, Aaron tells Jay how he feels about Alex and Tom’s presents. “If I’m honest I think it makes you look really bad,” he says, “it looks like you’ve done it for the cameras” and he paces up and down the kitchen. Jay seems offended: “I felt good about it” he says, “I know I wouldn’t spend that much in the real world but we’re not in the real world.” Alex walks through the house, gleaming at her new birthday shoes. “I’m glad you’re happy darling,” Jay tells her. Jay takes Louise into the bedroom toilet to tell her how Aaron has just reacted. “I knew he’d be like that,” Louise says and justifies herself, telling Alex and Tom: “We did it because we wanted to make you happy.” Tom tells the pair not to worry as “one person can’t ruin your birthday.” 9.29pm Alex is walking around the house in her new shoes: “I feel like Cinderella!” she says excitedly. “Never in my life did I think I’d have a pair of Jimmy Choos,” she continues. Tom puts on his watch and completes his birthday outfit. In the living area, music starts playing and housemates dance as Aaron looks on from the kitchen, eating chips. 11.23pm Jay and Louise are sitting on the sofas and Aaron is sitting on his own at the table. No one has spoken for a while and Jay says “Silence, you could hear a pin drop.” Louise smiles at him. In the diary room, Alex and Tom are sharing their birthday excitement with Big Brother. Alex says that she is “over the moon.” “When do you ever spend your birthday in the Big Brother house and then someone buys you a £500 watch? I’ve never had a watch like this and I never will again,” Tom says. “It’s really nice,” Alex gushes and repeats, “I feel like Cinderella.” Big Brother asks Tom the time: “It’s time I look at my £500 watch,” he grins. Louise and Jay are still on the sofas. “He’s not making me feel bad for doing a good deed,” Louise tells Jay, referring to Aaron’s reaction to the birthday presents. “God knows what he’s saying about us in there,” Jay says and points to the diary room. In the bedroom, Tom gushes about how much he has enjoyed his birthday. “Today has been really good,” he tells Aaron. In the living area, Jay is angry about Aaron’s negative reaction to him and Louise buying birthday presents. He looks at the prize fund board on the wall and says that “Aaron can have my money cos he’s such a f***ing freak!” and puts Aaron’s name next to the £15,000 mark where Jay’s name was. 11.50pm Aaron is in the diary room talking to Big Brother about Jay and Louise. “I’m in shock and disbelief, I feel sorry for Tom and Alex,” he says. He tells Big Brother that he thinks Jay and Louise have been “sneaky” and can’t believe their “conniving-ness.” He believes that Jay and Louise buying the birthday presents is “mind blowing” and he complains that “they thought they’d make themselves look bigger and better than myself and they’ve been caught out.” In the bedroom, Louise asks Jay when he last had sex. “10 weeks and seven days,” ago he says and then looks confused. “10 weeks and six days.” Louise tells him that she last had sex “12 or 13 weeks ago.” “Who with, a random?” Jay asks her. Louise tells him “of course it wasn’t a bloody random!” Aaron has left the diary room and is looking at the prize fund board. “Idiots,” he mutters when he sees that someone has moved his name from the £990 prize to the £15,000 prize. “We get it, you’re feeling guilty,” he says to himself in reference to Jay and Louise, before going over to the board and moving his name back.
