I don't think tennis will ever have the same volume of youngsters wanteing to play it because the only time the really see it is wimbledon - its not like football or cricket that you can play with loads of your mates. Its also not the sort of sport that parents are that pushy about. You know at a lot of kids football matches the kids are there because the parents found the team and enrolled them and drive them backwards and forwards and row with the opposing teams parents etc. With tennis there just isn't that sort of following so there are not going to be as many kids trying it. I bet out there we must have some kids who would be brilliant but they have never been tried at the sport.

I tried to play tennis on a proper court once...it's bloody hard!
It was easy in the days when we could play it in the middle of the road.

My Dad came over last night and we played badmintion in the garden...(I'm quite good at that!) But then my silly dad hit the shuttlecock over the fence, and I had a right go at him! Just like old times only the tables have turned. ::lol::

Federer was awesome today... he is a 'proper' tennis player...plays an allround game that i'd love to see from more of the players around today. Trouble is, to play like he does needs a higher level of skill than the more restricted power game of so many of the others which relies more on athleticism.

I've really enjoyed watching Philipoussis - he's not a bad tennis player, either ;)
