How annoying that they get that much benefit!! makes my blood boil - I know a woman in her 50's who looks after her ill partner, he's ill because he was an alcoholic who used to beat her up when he was drunk and now he has liver failure!! Theyve not long had the whole house double glazed been on 1 holiday abroad and are about to go on another....not a cheap last minute thing but a full on £2k holiday!!!!! (no exageration).

She's worried if he dies (which may be soon) she will have to get a job BUT GET THIS!!!! In order to pay for everything they have on HP and the mortgage etc she has to get a job where she will be bringing home at least 800 quid a WEEK!!!! THATS HOW MUCH BENEFIT THEY GET - cos hes a freakin' alcoholic and caused ALL his problems himself and WE'RE bloody paying for it!!!!!!!!

I don't understand why they get so much money either. I could understand if one of the parents stayed at home as 8 kids but not both. I thought the Northern Guy was a brute and bully, why the blond lady put up with him I don't know, I wouldn't have put up with his pig behaviour.

I know but when he kept saying all those things to the blonde 1 I would have walked out LOL

there is no way that straight benefit is 37k a year they get £42 for them and around £20 per child under 12 and £26 ish for child over so no way is it 37K even adding housing benefit so if the kids are chronic astmathics (I cant spell) and shes supposed to be whilst puffing her cigs I bet they are on Mobility all of them and thats £136 per person for the mobility componet and then there is carers

its makes me sick My brother Alan had brain haemorrage when he was 3 left him damaged on his left side then when he was 12 had to have all his left lung removed and then when 20 his eyesight went and he had cornea graft when he was 30 he devolped a type of fit that is constant and its like a shake he cant look after himself my parents who arent ofay with the benefit systme were told when he was 40 apply for mobility they never knew about it THEY WERE REFUSED 5 TIMES until local mp was so disgusted (our gp told him) he was granted mobility but no carers my mum and dad cant leave him and yet he does not get care allowance I know someone else with nothing wrong with them told them she had back pain and she gets mobility and full carers the system stinks honesst people get ripped off

Well they must be getting something else like mobility for it to add up like that.
I wonder if they said that to make us angry? Turn it into a class war or something?

I think they make a mockery of the system. From what I hear the guy is on a sick type allowence, I don't know how with all the drink he was binging and smoking. Three of the children also recieve more money to help with their illness.

I feel sorry for all the people whom are on benefits for genuine reasons. These guys have made a terrible a statement.

Why are we all so apathetic ? Why are we allowing someone to have 8 children and live of benefits?

Why are we allowing our pensioners to live in inhumane conditions while alll our taxes are being sent elsewhere?

Our country has gone to pot, I am truly scared at the amount of awful things that we are being subjected to everyday.

I watched it at 11:40pm on Channel four last night and all I can say is 'oh, My God'

She's a cross between Waynetta Slob and Janice Battersby, what a jealous, horrible, inconsiderate cow!!!!! They swear and smoke in front of their kids, he drinks beer and hides away. What a terrible woman, the bit that annoyed me was that she had been up with her asthma all night, so how did she sort it? She had a fag!!!! She's really clever isn't she!

I'm sorry but IMO, there are people in the world who would do anything to have a baby, and they are letting someone like that keep producing babies and smoke aroung ones with asthma - I don't think its right, children can't speak up and ask an adult to leave the room and have a fag, I would though, no-one will smoke in front of my child. (I smoke myself, but not around children or non-smokers).

yes I agree - I smoke too but would never dream of smoking around kids while are kids classes are on the dance sschool is a smoke free zone in all the waiting areas and the bar as soon as they go if people wish to smoke in the bar they can but cruelle is right how can this happen when the likes of pensionerss have struggle or in the case of my severely disabled brother they miss out on benefits whilst the ones with nothing up get the full amount

Me too Niki and Bren, no smoking in my house till my kids are in bed and even then I hate it when I come down in the morning and run for the Febreze

I agree Michelle. There are more genuine than not, and many do not get the benefits they are entitled to because, as Bren said, they do not know the system. It is difficult enough to claim benefits especially with all the forms/red tape etc.

I teach adults Basic skills, many of them have mild to moderate learning difficulties, including Dyslexia which was never diagnosed when they were at school. They find the forms nearly impossible to complete, never mind understanding what they might be entitled to.

Unfortunately, people such as those on 'Wife Swap' make the word 'scroungers' rear it's ugly head again in the public's mind and people will class all those on benefits as the same. I thought we got rid of this when the Torys went. (Look at the unemployment figures compared to 10 years ago).

Mark Bardsley was portrayed this week as an unemployed father of eight who claims A#37,500 a year. But he may now face an investigation by the Department of Work and Pensions.
