I am a loss of what to do. There is a girl in my office, and whatever anyone else has done, shes done ten times worse, or knows someone who has. The lies are horrendous and i don't know how to deal with it, we are all getting fed up. I know its an illness we need to unerstand, but an example of the lies are as follows:

'I got bitten by a shark' (FYI, a great white shark, there are no scars, nothing)

'i've broken my pelvis three times, one falling of a horse, 2 falling of a motorbike which was going 70 mph, 3 doing gymnastics' i don't think it is physically possible for someones hip to be perfectly fine after that without an operation.

'I'm a witch' (thats a good one )

I'm getting cross now, I can't just ignore her, but I can't stand it anymore!!!!!

Why don't you take her aside and ask her if she is aware that she is doing it and how it makes her come acrosss? Is she new? Does she have a supervisor?

Niki, listen carefully to her stories and see if they contradict themselves - when they do pull her up on it - she may get fed up if shes aways being caught out

You could vote her out, like they did Lisa!

Seriously though, it sounds like she has a desperate need to be liked, or 'in'. If she is otherwise ok, (although it's easy to say) is there any way to make it clear to her that people like her as a person, not what she's done or tries to be. Is it possible to take her out for a drink or something, and make this clear?

Has she got siblings, or someone she has had to compete with for attention? Somewhere along the line this behaviour must have worked for her, she needs to know that it doesn't work in this environment, in a gentle way.

Accidently let her read these posts?

Put a note on the wall saying "Liars will be smacked"

OR....

When she lies make up an even bigger one (ie I got bitten by a shark ..... Yeah me too it ripped my leg off)

...or 'my family are all sharks, I'm a recessive gene'

And all my other limbs ... so I lived inside the shark (like jonah in the whale) until my limbs had healed themselves back onto my body
