Who would ever thought a remake of Mandy originally sung by Barry Manilow would get to number 1. My friends in Canada have done nothing but torment me about it.

I would never buy a Barry Manilow song!

I could understand it being number 1 in the old Radio 2 shows.

Our charts has now become a laughing stock all over the world.

Its very sad, but shows the state of the music industry.

At the end of the day they put out what the buying public will pick up, unfortunatly the majority of muic sales (single wise) is by under 21's and some of these cover versions they would never have heard befor and have grown up in the pop marketing bubble.

That's the thing, because most of the songs that come out and my mum says is a cover I have never heard in my life and would never have guessed that they were.

I drive my daughter crazy because nearly every time she gets a new CD I already know all the words to the songs...

I dont tell her it's because I've heard them all before...about 20 years ago
