From today's Sun...
'Twelve participants will pit their wits against each other for the prize money - the trouble is, every time one of them nods off, the jackpot gets lower.
And as if going without sleep wasn't hard enough, the 12 will have to deal with a series of gruelling tasks designed to test their physical and mental strength.
Sleepy contestants will also be offered luxury 'rewards' such as massages - the only catch is they've got to stay awake for them!
In an added twist, the finalists will spend the week holed up in a special see-through studio in London where the public will be able to monitor their every move.
They'll have presenter Dermot O'Leary to keep them company though - he's spending the week locked up with them. Unlike the housemates however, Dermot will be allowed to sleep.....
The Big Brother's Little Brother frontman has been busy preparing for Shattered, even taking up yoga in a bid to prepare his body for the show.
He says: "I'm going to need to be rested before I do this, as I've not done anything like it before. I did sponsored stuff at school where we had to stay awake for 24 hours but other than that, it's just partying that keeps me awake!"
Dermot's own advice for the participants is simple - keep talking. "Talking is the best thing. Don't spend any time on your own. If I'm on my own or even if you're with just one other person, you can make excuses for being sleepy, but if you stick in groups ...," he says.
To prevent the finalists from nodding off, series bosses will carry out daily tests to monitor memory, perception and reaction skills.
The person who shows the biggest decline in performance will then face eviction from the programme.'
Shattered, Sunday, 04/01/04 to Saturday, 10pm, Channel 4.
