Well after i watched the films, thought it would be about time I went out and read the books... so bought the first 4 on paper back in a little set....and i was 150% hooked! Read the lot in 5 days!!

Waiting for teh 5th in paper back.... the 6th is not going to make an appearance for another 2 n half years yet! ouch!

Anyone else a fan out there?

I've read them all, because my daughter is a big fan. Are you sure the next one isn't due earlier becasue she has started writing it already.

I believe book 7 is going to be the last...? Wonder if she will kill anyone important off

Surely Harry will eventually defeat Voldermort. JK has said she will conclude the story properly. I thought the Prisoner of Azkaban was better as a book than the movie, much darker and with more substance.

She could shock us though and kill loads of people off in the process... that would be an intresting read mind.....

I enjoyed all the books, and reserve judgment on whether the films are better / worse.... i enjoyed book 4 most though.... films not out for ages

Wonder if they are going to make all 7 films?

I'm not a big Harry Potter fan, I have my reasons for this (ones I'm not willing to share, let's just say JK beat me to the post with a good money spinner, b*tch, I'm not bitter)

But I can safely say I'm drawn to the films.

I love Harry Potter, have read them all.

The seventh is going to be the last one. She has had all the plots worked out for years, and I believe has the last chapter already written in a safe somewhere.

OK :D here goes!

First off though I will say that one good thing about the Potter books is that they have got kids picking up books again which is excellent.

Other than that I think they are at best overrated overhyped tosh. I think to be honest they are a bit too childlike for me.
I prefer something with a bit more oomph!

Right where do I pick up my hard hat ::lol::

I don't like the way they're written, not very elegant.

'and then they did this and then that and after they did that they did this because of that and this'

If that makes no sense whatsoever.

I think the point to remember is that these books were originally written for children. So, it is all too likely that they are child-like.

Secondly, they have encouraged children to read, because kids are completely gripped by both the characters and the storylines. Even children who wouldn't say they like reading have read them and thoroughly enjoyed them.

It would be impossible for everyone to love them, and they are not for everyone. But I think they have more than achieved their purpose as an entertaining read for children
:D
