Big Brother's resident psychologist says the bitchiness of female contestants may hinder their chances of winning Big Brother.
Dr Sandra Scott says it takes longer for females to bond as a group than males.
This causes them to "descend into bitching activity quicker and more actively".
Scott said: "The girls tend to take much longer to bond as a group than the boys do, and hence lose out on that early source of support.
"This is important because in the first days, everybody is just finding their feet, it is easy to make mistakes, and the sense of belonging to a group helps with this.
"Not being bonded, the girls also seem to descend into bitching quicker and more actively. This makes you unpopular inside and outside the house, and does not help their chances of winning."
Big Brother 1 and 2 were both won by males, although Kate and Jade are still in the running for this year's prize.
