Aww you must read it Chad it's the best one. How come you have only read 2 before the 5th in the series?

Just ask my friend! I am really bad at finishing books unless it grips me with the first chapters, I'm not a book person at all, it took me 2 years to read The Testament by John Grisham, I said to my friends they could borrow it when I am done, they just gave up on me and bought themselves :roll:

I must make more of an effort, I suppose! it's too easy when you can watch a film in 2hrs or so!

I've read the first few HP books but I think they are really over-rated. They are good stories but I just find some of the plot-lines so corny. As someone posted, it's great that kids have put down their control pads and started picking up books. However, you can't compare them to children's classics such as The Jungle Book, Chronicles of Narnia, and Five Go Tits-Up in Tubbybelly Castle.

I'm always wary of adults who think HP books are the best thing since the Windows98 Manual.

"really over-rated" ::lol::

The Narnia series are miles better IMO.

Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite of HP books, hopefully I won't be very disappointed after seeing it in the movies. :-?

I loved Narnia books when I was younger, hmm I think I must read them again someday soon. After Narnia I was totally fascinated by books from Susan Cooper (The Dark is rising-series and Seaward). I think they're still quite amazing :x

The Narnia books are fantastic- but as one of those adults who like the HP books more than is healthy- I have to say that the plot twists are pretty unpredictable- I mean, really who can say they got the twist in PoA?

I love Harry Potter! I've read all 5 books at least 2 times and I've seen all movies. I can't wait to see the 4th movie and read the 6th book.

Even if I were a young one and read Harry Potter I'd still think it was pants. The films are pants as well. They probably even show it at adult theatres for the dirty old men who fancy that ginger kid.

I just don't get why adults want to read childrens books. If that's the only kind of thing you're reading it dumbs you down. I know that happened to me when I was still at school, because they didn't encourage me to read more adult books even though my reading was more advanced than most 12 year olds.

I've made up for it now though! ()^

That's the kind of thing I mean, it's not adult reading so I don't get why so many people like it. If you want to read good childrens books read Roald Dahl ()^

Or read Stephen King. He's good. Honest.

i think JKR fantasises about being the next Roald Dahl, but he was one of a kind. i have so many happy memories of his books! they were pretty damn funny and dark in some places.

Roald Dahl disturbed me, but then again the first story I read of his was about a woman whacking her husband over the head with a frozen leg of lamb for cheating on her, and then feeding the police officers with the weapon... I read this at the age of eight... I also like to eat paper!

I didn't like what he thought of some people in the willy wonker books, especially fat people, altho I'll admit, the obese are a right laugh :D (sorry)
