Jamaican singer Capleton is scheduled to perform at Chicago's House of Blues on Thursday. The Chicago Anti-Bashing Network, at a news conference outside the R&B club said that if the concert is not cancelled it will stage a demonstration on Thursday.
The Anti-Bashing Network said that Belushi and Aykroyd are the sole owners of the club. The performance is also sponsored by Bud Lite beer.
One of Capleton's songs contains the lyrics "Bun Di Chi Chi,'' Jamaican slang for "burn the *****.'' Another calls for gays to be shot.
Capleton, whose real name is Clifton George Baily III, said that the burning'' references in his songs refer to spiritual cleansing, not physical harm.
The singer performed in Boston and Newark on the weekend but did not sing any of the anti-gay material.
Earlier this month, organizers of San Francisco's Reggae In The Park removed Capleton from the bill of its event. He was to have performed at the festival in October.
Capleton is one of several anti-gay reggae singers currently touring in the US.
Beenie Man concerts have been cancelled in several US cities. The most recent was MTV's decision not to allow him to perform at a MTV Music Video Awards concert in Miami. But, the biggest cancellation came from RJR Reynolds which axed Beenie Man from all of its Salem Stir Your Senses Tour after it was made aware of the nature of the lyrics.
Just because they own a place doesn't mean they book all the damn bands.
