What book did you read for O Level, A Level, GCSE, etc?

I took my English O Level a year early and we had to read ...

1984 - George Orwell. I wouldn't say I exactly enjoyed it at the age of 15 but it was ceratinly interesting and was the main reason I was interested in Big Brother from the start.

Far From the Madding Crowd - Thomas Hardy. A classic so am gald i have read it by again didn't blow my socks off at the time. We were allowed to watch the film too.

MacBeth - Shakespeare. This funnily was the one of the 3 that i probably enjoyed the most and it inspired me to read Hamlet, The Tempest, Mid Summer Nights dream (not to be mixed up with Mid Sommer murders), The Taming of the Shrew and Comedy of Errors...mind you was a while again now.

We aslo have to do a piece of poetry by Rupert Brook about the 1st world war...

If I should die, think only this of me
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is forever England

...can't remember anymore ...was over 20 years ago {@}

I was given Animal Farm to read by my next door neighbour (who was a teacher) when i was about 11..I may have missed a lot of the symbolism at the time.
