TESCO will today launch its own music internet download service.
It is the first major supermarket to attempt to capture a slice of the £25million legal download market.

Tesco is offering single tracks at a flat rate of 79p from a library of 500,000 songs.

Apple's iTunes currently dominates the market with nearly 70 per cent of downloads.

Tesco hopes to entice customers with promises of superior sound quality.

The store is also using a software system which allows its songs to be used on more than 70 different players.

They should have tried lowering the price a little to compete with iTunes.
I'm not sure if it will work for them if all they can offer is better sound quality.
It depends how they define better :-?
