Big Brother has given the thirsty housemates the chance to enjoy some after dinner drinks, with some revolting alternatives for anyone failing a general knowledge test.

Each housemate visited the Diary Room in turn to answer a multiple-choice question. If they answered correctly, they and a chosen partner could select an alcoholic shot, but if they answered incorrectly, their partner had to spin a "wheel of misfortune" to identify which disgusting beverage they would have to consume.

Brigitte was up first, and managed to correctly guess that "melons" are what the Happy Mondays discourage people from twisting - amazing given than she'd never heard of said band, let alone the fact that her housemate Bez was a member.

The freaky dancer in question wasn't quite so lucky. Bez had no idea that in horse racing, a "morning glory" refers to a horse who "performs well in the morning walkabout but fails in races", and as a result, his partner Kenzie was forced to down a shot of salt water.

Correctly answering that "nodes" are "karmic indicators of the moon" when used by astrologers led Caprice, and her partner Jeremy, to down a measure of vanilla vodka.

Jackie was equally lucky, and after guessing that the average weight of a model of 110 pounds, thoroughly enjoying a little drink.

Jeremy had no idea how many cosmetic surgery procedures were carried out in the UK in 2002-2003 (the correct answer was 10,700), meaning Lisa had to suck on a lemon. A similar fate awaited Jeremy himself, when Lisa couldn't work out which year saw Hollywood's walk of fame open (1960).

John was the star of the show, telling Big Brother that "to get your swerve on" translates from hip hop into English as "to accomplish something successfully" - a fact which even MC extraordinaire Kenzie admitted he didn't know.

With six questions answered correctly and three forfeits successfully undertaken, the housemates were informed that they'd passed the task.

Their prize is a dinner party.
