Top Story: Radio Aid For Tsunami Aid Launched
The UK's commercial radio stations will unite in aid of tsunami victims by broadcasting a day’s worth of shows featuring Chris Evans, Dermot O'Leary, Johnny Vaughan, Ricky Gervais and the legendary Simon ‘Our Tune’ Bates.
From 6.00am to 6.00pm on Monday January 17, the UK's commercial radio stations will join together to create UK Radio Aid, a single, star-studded programme to focus on raising money for the children affected by the Asian
tsunami and support them as they to start to
rebuild their lives and look to the future.
An estimated audience of up to 30 million listeners across 250 stations are expected to tune in, the biggest ever UK radio audience.
With the support of Prime Minister Tony Blair (who will appear live during the day) some of the biggest names in radio history alongside musicians, sports and TV stars will take part in the 12 hour live broadcast.
Each hour of programming will be hosted by two guest DJs who will introduce live acoustic sets, guest interviews, competitions, auctions, pledges, messages and news breaks. These will include Chris Evans, Davina McCall, Dermot O'Leary, Zoë Ball, Johnny Vaughan, Ricky Gervais and the legendary Simon ‘Our Tune’ Bates.
