Simon Cowell has reportedly been overheard blasting the poor standard of contestants on the fourth series of American Idol to the show's chief producer.
The America Idol judge was overheard speaking on his mobile to the producer bitching about the contestants as "Usher wannabes."
Cowell allegedly told American Idol executive producer Cecile that there was "very little talent" among the singers who had made it to the final of the latest series currently showing in the US, reports the New York Post.
A source told the paper, "He said the only standout was the country and western singer from Missouri and said the rest were just a bunch of untalented `Usher wannabes'."
The 45-year-old record executive added that of the show's previous series the only one with talent who went onto win was Kelly Clarkson.
