EASTENDERS JAKE: I'M GAY Feb 16 2005

EASTENDERS actor Jake Maskall has revealed he is gay and has a long-term boyfriend.


The 29-year-old plays ladies' man Danny Moon, who is having an affair with Sam Mitchell, played by Kim Medcalf.

But he told Now magazine: "I'm gay and I've been with my boyfriend for 12 years. It's not a secret. But my relationship is part of my private life and I hope everyone respects my privacy."

He says on-screen brother Jake Moon (Office star Joel Beckett) gets more fan mail from women.

"We don't fight over the attention - Joel's welcome to it," he joked. "Joel and I have such a strong bond and we look out for each other. We're just like the brothers we play."

Jake will soon be filming romps with Jemma Walker, who plays prostitute Sasha Perkins.

He says he doesn't mind filming sex scenes and enjoys stripping off on the show. He also has a word of warning for Albert Square's No1 heartthrob Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman).

He said: "I love bedroom scenes, and I'll happily give Nigel Harman a run for his money."

Michael Cashman, who played Colin Russell, was the first openly gay Eastenders actor.

If there are some females out there who did not know he was gay they must be the type who like feminine men because he is as camp as a row of tents.

I never realised, Madeline! He's rather nice looking.

Never mind Jezi, at least he has come out, unlike many others who lead their female admires a merry dance for years.

I never realised either, but his brother is a bit of alright.

I don't see why people get scared about 'coming out'. well that's a lie because I do, I mean I don't see why there's this stigma about it. I mean you can be gay, straight, black, white male, female blah de blah but afterall we're all humans - does it really matter?

Unfortunatly it still does matter to certain sections of society Jezi. But it is getting more acceptable to be black, white, female, gay, staight.
Look at the turn round in attitude to the clergy......



PENSIONS FOR GAY CLERICS' PARTNERS

PARTNERS of gay clergy are to be given the same pension rights as other spouses, the Church of England ruled last night.

Those who register under the Government's civil partnership scheme will be entitled to the deal.

In theory, sexually active homosexuals cannot join the priesthood.

Only a handful of clergy have so far risked facing censure by openly declaring they are gay.

Now the prospect of pensions for their partners may see more follow suit.

Bishops plan to give guidance before the scheme comes into force.

The pension deal was approved at the February session of the General Synod, the church parliament.

However, its stance on gay rights was clouded by proposals to sack priests who preach liberal views on homosexuality.Mirror
