BRITNEY Spears confirmed last night she is expecting her first baby.

The pop star, 23, and hubby Kevin Federline announced the news after reports that she was rushed to hospital with severe cramps. The stricken mum-to-be was taken to hospital over fears for her unborn baby, a pal revealed yesterday.
Britney and Kevin said in a joint statement: “The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together.

“There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend. Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well.

“Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Love Britney & Kevin.”

The couple did not say when the baby is due but it is believed that the singer is three months pregnant.

Britney’s friend earlier told how the star was taken to a private clinic over the weekend suffering from severe abdominal cramps and bleeding.

She spent the night being treated by specialists at the clinic near her home in Destin, Florida.

Doctors finally gave the relieved singer the all-clear and said that both she and her unborn baby are fine. The pal said: “Britney started developing severe abdominal cramps at her home and was rushed to a clinic seven miles away.

“She was also bleeding and feared that there could be something wrong with her unborn baby.

“But she has been told that she is OK and that the baby is OK.”

Britney was released from hospital the day after she was admitted and was last night relaxing at home. Doctors have ordered her to take complete rest for the next few days.

It is also believed that her progress will be closely monitored by further specialists.

Hubby Kevin, 27, is not thought to have been at home when she developed the pains.

But friends said he rushed to the clinic to join his wife moments after she arrived.

Yesterday dancer Kevin was out shopping for supplies for Britney while she put her feet up at home.

The star’s friend said: “He went out to get groceries so he can cook for her.

“He is obviously very concerned and is doing all he can to look after her and make her comfortable.”

A spokesman for Britney last night said that she was fine and resting at home.

Speculation that the pop princess is pregnant has been growing for weeks as she has been pictured with a bulging tum.

A bit cheeky of her to say 'expecting OUR first baby together' when technically speaking he's already got 2 kids of his own! good luck to them.

On AOL they're running this poll to whether people think she will be a good mother or not, a number of people have voted 'no' and I don't see why. It's a bit evil to cast aspersions like that as I very much doubt that the 10,000 of them know her personally.
