JUBILANT Terry Miller was dreaming of opening his own restaurant last night after winning Hell’s Kitchen.

Geordie Terry, 46, narrowly won the public vote against pub cook Kellie Cresswell to win the £250,000 prize, which will go towards setting up his own eaterie.

He said: “I just cannot believe it. My wife and son dragged us here. Me son put us in for the show on the internet.

"I thought Kellie would win, she is an absolute star. I’m going to have a good drink to celebrate.”

The catering businessman from Newcastle was tricked on to the ITV1 show by his wife and son.

Terry, who was on Gary Rhodes’s team, added: “I don’t know what I’m going to call the restaurant, I’ll let my wife decide.

“I have to thank Gary Rhodes, he is my hero. I have so much respect for the man it is untrue.”

Ten aspiring chefs started serving meals to a room of celebrity guests two weeks ago.

During the series, apart from eating, the 375 celebrity guests have guzzled an amazing 2,600 bottles of wine, an average of SEVEN each.

Celebrity chefs Gary Rhodes and Jean Christophe Novelli trained 10 members of the public in the two-week series.

The show suffered an early slump in ratings and, unlike the first series, did not feature chef Gordon Ramsay.

As he savoured his win, Miller hugged his wife Linda and shouted: "I've done it, I've done it."

The budding chef had originally been mocked by Rhodes after he served up a dish made with Smash instant potato.

During the series diners at Hell's Kitchen were served 50kg of pig trotters, 170 quail eggs, £1,000 worth of mushrooms and 180kg of turbot.

Celebrity guests at Monday night's final included magician Paul Daniels, TV presenter Vanessa Feltz and actress Michelle Collins.

The rookie cook was last night hoping and praying she pips remaining rival Terry MiIler to the £250,000 prize so she can open her own restaurant - and take that break.

Her mum Chrissie laughed: "If we had the money, we'd give her a diamond-studded ladle."

Celebrity chefs Gary Rhodes and Jean Christophe Novelli have spent the last fortnight whipping two teams of novices into shape.

Mum-of-two Kellie, 28, a pub chef in Strood, Kent, won through on Novelli's team and Terry on Rhodes'.

Chrissie, 53, revealed the family didn't get an invite to the final last night in the East London diner.

She said: "We were disappointed, but we'll have a big do ready for her."

The mum-of-seven reckoned Terry had always been the biggest rival to Kellie - a former Army HGV driver who once had a gun held to her head.

She added: "It wouldn't surprise me if Novelli or Rhodes offered Kellie a job... now that would be amazing.

"What an experience she has had to actually see what a top chef has to do."

The show, which featured 10 celebs battling it out under Gordon Ramsay in a first series, slumped to 2.8millon viewers last Monday. It recovered late last week to pull in 4.1million.
