A SCOTS rock band featuring
Fame Academy star Ainslie Henderson have been handed their big break - by Radio 2 political heavyweight Jeremy VineThe unlikely champion for new music has thrown his weight behind unknowns The Last September after the lead singer grabbed him in the street and handed him their CD.
Pete Deane, 25, originally from Hawick in the Borders, accosted the presenter as he left the BBC studios in Edinburgh last Monday.
He thrust the band's CD into his hand and the next day the broadcaster played it on his show.
Last night Jeremy said: 'It was the perfect moment as we were about to go on a 200-mile journey inthe car. There were four of us including the producer and we all loved it.
'It was a really soulful voice and a nice original sound - perfect for Radio 2.'
One of Pete's bandmates is Ainslie Henderson, 26, who came fourth in the first Fame Academy series.
