no

well I have a few choices but the only uni I've been to is Aberdeen University for the open day thing. Think you really have to see them before you can make up your mind. Apparently I'm not going to Aberdeen though unfortunately

Pretty much know what I want to do though.

How come your not going to Aberdeen? is it they don't do your course or your parents want you to make the break from home?

cause? do you mean course? sorry

No if you mean course they do it but my parents want me to move away from Aberdeen. The thing is they don't seem to realise I don't want to stay for them, but I really do like it here!!

Why do your parents want you to move away from Aberdeen, do they think you would rely on them too much if you lived in the same city? I think TCBon went to uni in the same city where she comes from so she got the best of both worlds, I suppose Aberdeen is big enough not to bump into them, is it?

I suppose I have to see how my exams go first before I can think about university :-?

You have no idea how scared I am, I get SO stressed out at exam time. The way my exams are set out really doesn't help this year as most of study leave is AFTER all my exams which sorta defeats the purpose!! I think 3 of my subjects are OK however 2 can still be rather iffy!!

anyway, with the 2 weeks after study leave I could maybe read Robbie Williams biography ;)

thanks chad ;)

I'll just have to see, highers are such a jump from Standard Grades. You think about them now and you're like 'whyyy was I so scared then' but at that time they were the biggest thing I suppose. I passed all my prelims which is a step up from most of the S5/6s.

hehehe, if they are worth partying for that'd be one cool idea ;)

I went away on the day of exam results last year, you shouldn't let me in a car when I am that hyper :-?

You'll be fine in your exams, Jezi. You work hard, and are a bright girl. Often the people who get most wound up about exams are the ones who do best in them.

About your parents wanting you to go to uni somewhere else - they are probably wise to say that. If you stay near home, you'll still have all the same friends and family around you. In a way that restricts your chances to grow up. Moving away from home gives you the chance to behave differently from you always have (and I don't mean that you have to go off the rails, etc!!!).

I moved from N. Ireland to Edinburgh when I was a student, and it was the making of me. Edinburgh is a fantastic city to be a student in, by the way. I still go back loads.

ahhhh I just typed out a relatively long message and then AOL went and re-connected me!!

anyway, thanks rebs :D

I think I will probably end up moving away, it's just that I do like this area - plus there are certain things I really don't want to leave behind (school being the main one but then again I'd have to leave anyway ::lol:: I think I'm going to attach myself to the door on the last day of S6!).

Edinburgh is a nice city, great shops and of course the zoo!!

Leaving school, and then home are two big steps, Jezi. But your area will still be there for holidays, etc, and for when you leave uni.

If it makes you feel any better, the AO/AOR members who have gone to uni in the last couple of years have mostly left home, and they've all been doing really well. It's a scary thought, but once you're at uni, you don't look back at school at all. Onwards and Upwards, hehe!!

yes I suppose that's true, not that my parents will be living here I don't think.

The thing that I am looking forward to most is being in groups with people who love the subject as much as I do. I've experienced being in shows with big groups of people who are just as excited as I am and it's the biggest buzz ever - let's just say I've never met a group of people yet who like French that much!
