Sunset Song by Lewis G Gibbon. Best novel ever. The 1st 2-3 pages are weird but after that it is a truly beautiful read. It is the closest thing you can get to your granny reading you a story. HONEST.

'the catcher in the rye' and 'the great gatsby' are both awesome books, and really short too!

Forget all those, get some Stephen King down you. The man's brilliant.

I studied that for my Scottish Lit option at Edinburgh University years ago. I agree about it - it's fabulous.

I've only read 17 of the books on that list, and I've always got my nose in a book. I tend to mostly like books by women authors, and which are more aimed at women than men, for some reason. Strange, because I was a bit of a tomboy growing up, and used to read my brother's Biggles books, etc. :D

There are a few authors on the list whose other works I have read, but not the named books.

I have studied 'Clay' by Lewis Grassic Gibbon but I've never actually read 'Sunset Song'. My friend who is in another higher class did that as a class text. I'm hoping to be able to write about 'Clay' in a few days time ;)
