The Farm hands Five 1m viewers
The Farm: launched with a 9% audience share
The second bunch of D-list celebrities to enter The Farm brought 1.2 million viewers to Five last night.
The mix of contestants was bizarre even by the increasingly surreal standards of reality TV. They included John Major's former daughter-in-law Emma Noble, Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav, Keith Harris and Orville, ageing porn star Ron Jeremy and Dave Morgan, the former fiance of EastEnder Jessie Wallace.
The latest bunch of has-beens and never-weres will have to some way to go to top the first run of The Farm, which achieved notoriety when Rebecca Loos was set the task of pleasuring a pig.
But the show is already attracting controversy, having been branded "reckless" and "irresponsible" by the RSPCA.
The Farm launched last night with a 9% audience share between 10.30pm and 11.35pm, according to unofficial overnights.
This was an improvement on last September's series opener, which attracted 1.1 million viewers and a 6% audience share.
