About 40 real life EastEnders will be the stars of a new reality TV show.

The production company behind hit shows Footballers' Wives and Bad Girls have installed ten families in a purpose-built estate in east London.

Their cameras will follow each person as they go about their daily lives and viewers will be able to vote families off, the Sun reports.

"We believe it will be the biggest and most challenging reality TV show ever," an insider told the newspaper.

The stars of the show will go to work as usual every day but will be in the spotlight from the moment they set foot in their homes at night.

Filming on the show, which will be aired for half an hour three times a week, is due to begin later this year and will continue until Christmas 2006.

Given their track record with explosive dramas, Shed Productions' new show is likely to be as action-packed as the onscreen EastEnders.

And the production company certainly has an eye for success - it is expecting to post profits of about £4.6 million this year, almost double that of 2004.

I actualy know someone who has applied for this show and have had the producers round their flat filming, I was there when they came and they spoke about it.

There are 10 families taking part and its a purpose built village in London the houses are going to be proper houses not cardboard ones like in BB. As far as things stand at the moment there are not going to be evictions as its just going to be a real like soap opera but that might change. It will begin towards the end of this year and go on for a year. There will be a pub, village hall where activities take place and shops just like real life. The families will be allowed in and out of the village and their friends will be allowed to visit and stay as long as they are prepared to be filmed during their stay.

Don't really watch River City, I've seen bits and met one of the characters a couple of times but didn't really know who she was...!!

I think River City is the only soap opera set here, well there used to be Take the Highroad or whatever it was called - my grandmothers loved it ::lol::

I suppose it ended because of the low ratings like they usualy do but I just cant remember how it ended. When the original crossroads finished I can remember the last ever episode but not sons and daughters.
