ITV bosses trying to get showbiz hacks on side for Celebrity Love Island are going the wrong way about it. With Celebrity Wrestling turning toes up, Love Island has more riding on it for entertainment chief Claudia Rosencrantz than Bernard Manning on a Shetland pony. So Granada's spent thousands flying a pack of hacks out to the set in Fiji so they can drum up interest in the sexual shenanigans of its D-list celebrities. But the wheeze seems to have backfired. After two days of flying and travelling, the jet-lagged journalists are not loving Love Island. Humidity is over 50% and temperatures are averaging 23 degrees. Worse still, the hotels aren't five star and, Monkey is told, some of the rooms have cockroaches. I SUPPOSE A SHACK IS OUT OF THE QUESTION?


HONESTLY, the sacrifices TV land makes for you readers... This week, I forced myself to fly out to Fiji for an exclusive look behind the scenes of Celebrity Love Island.

Tempting though it was to spend all day lounging by the pool, I couldn't resist having a good nose around the lavish £15million set.

Starting on Monday on ITV1, for five weeks, this lovers' paradise on the shores of Bounty Island - formerly a backpackers' resort off Fiji - will be home to 12 sexy single celebs.



To get them in the mood for some fun in the sun, they will enjoy all the comforts of the luxury accommodation which was, ahem, erected in just six weeks.

The six bachelor boys are model Calum Best, 24, athlete Du'aine Ladejo, 34, club boss Fran Cosgrave, 27, ex-EastEnder Michael Greco, 35, ex-Hollyoaks actor Paul Danan, 26, and footballer Lee Sharpe, 33.

And the six babes they may or may not take a fancy to are TV presenter Jayne Middlemiss, 34, former Atomic Kitten star Liz McClarnon, 24, ex-EastEnder Judi Shekoni, 27, bisexual Rebecca Loos, 27, glamour girl Abi Titmuss, 29, and posh totty Lady Isabella Hervey, 23.

The most popular couple will win £100,000 to be shared between the charities of their choice.

The 12 will sleep in one bedroom, although each has their own double bed. Outside they can take a dip in a pool overlooking the ocean, or chill out in the bar area. There is also a huge dining table, comfy sofas and decking with sunloungers.

On hand to cater for their every whim is a butler, housekeeper, two housemaids, eight general maids, a barman and a masseuse.

They will be watched 24/7 by 40 cameras, while 120 mics are in place to pick up every word they say - including whispered sweet nothings.

Every Monday, viewers will vote for two islanders - a girl and a boy - to be whisked off to the "love-shack" until Thursday.

This isolation area has a shell-shaped hot tub and a love-seat plus a bath overlooking the sea, to encourage any simmering passions. Although the bedroom has two beds - in case the couple hate each other's guts

The group can go to the Beach Hut to offload any moans and groans, and a psychologist will be on hand to help them through any problems in paradise.

On Fridays, the audience vote for who they want to be booted out.

Even before the cameras roll, romance seems to be blossoming on Celebrity Love Island - between co-hosts Patrick Kielty and Kelly Brook.

Paddy tells us, "I've been asked to come to an island for five weeks to host a show on a beach with FHM's Sexiest Woman In The World.

"You think I give a s*** about the rest of them? I just need to get Billy out of the way."

Giggling, Kelly reveals that boyfriend Billy Zane will be coming to visit her on the island very soon.

Paddy quips, "After that comment, he'll be here tomorrow and the restraining order is already in place.

"Then again, getting here involves a boat trip and he might not want to take his chances after Titanic.

SLEAZY Celebrity Love Island "star" Abi Titmuss last night promised to bed Rebecca Loos - as ITV1 hit a new low in its bid for ratings.

The network has spent hundreds of thousands of pounds taking a cast of Z-list "celebs" to a paradise island in Fiji.

And when former nurse Abi - who infamously took part in a tawdry sex video with ex-lover John Leslie and a mystery woman - arrived, she was more than happy to provide some pre-show titillation.

Abi, who is being paid £100,000 to appear, and David Beckham's ex, Rebecca Loos, were supposed to be at war in the run-up to the show.

But last night Abi vowed to bed Rebecca, as Celebrity Love Island tumbled into the gutter.

Giggling Abi told reporters: "I think viewers should be allowed to vote me and Rebecca into the Love Shack. That would be quite funny and possibly naughty. I'm really looking forward to meeting Rebecca.

"With free alcohol, I'm going to love it in this show. It's conducive to love and after a couple of drinks I do change - so watch out Rebecca!" But despite posing in lads' mags, Abi claimed she is nervous ahead of the show.

She revealed: "There's a lot of pressure on me to perform. People at home and here expect all this action. But what they forget is that all the action I did before, I did in private. I'm a bit worried about being on camera 24/7, but I've had experience on Hell's Kitchen, so I can cope." Abi then told how she would be on the hunt for condoms during the series. Nice.

She also revealed that Calum Best - model and gossip column extra - will also be on her bedding list. She said: "I'm going to sort him out. We are good friends and I do fancy him a little bit. He's a good-looking boy." Amazingly, though, Abi claims she is worried about squeezing her 32DD bust into a bikini.

She simpered: "The thing I'm dreading is putting on a bikini. It's bad enough for any girl putting on a bikini in the summer without being on national TV."

But Abi also admitted she is eager to find love on the show. She said: "I'm a passionate person and fall in love easily. Hopefully, I'll meet Mr Right and we'll get married."

So that rules out Fran Cosgrave.

The man most famous for dating an Atomic Kitten and appearing on another ITV reality show, I'm A Celebrity, showed his sleazy side as he promised to have an orgy. Modest Fran, 27, announced: "I've already had sex with Abi - me and Calum always share birds. There's going to be a foursome with me, Rebecca, Abi and Calum."

He added: "I think ITV supply condoms. But if not, I'm taking in two boxes to last me the five weeks." Best, caught on camera earlier this year performing sex acts on Elizabeth Jagger in a London nightclub, added: "When Fran and I get p***ed, we're bound to do something dodgy."

Former Man Utd football star Lee Sharpe, 33, is another contestant. He said he found Rebecca attractive, adding: "The fact Rebecca is bisexual is a bit of a turn-on. But her and Abi together scares me to death."

Tomorrow the 12 "celebs" - Abi, Rebecca, Fran, Calum and Lee plus Jayne Middlemiss, Judi Shekoni, Liz McClarnon, Michael Greco, former Hollyoaks actor Paul Danan and runner Du'aine Ladejo - will sail into a purpose-built luxury love den on the idyllic Bounty Island.

Each week, viewers will vote for the couple they most want to see hook up together. The chosen pair will then spend four nights in a secluded Love Shack, which ITV desperately hopes will lead to sex, sex... and ratings.

Viewers will also vote each week for one person to leave the island. The couple left at the end of the series will then share a £100,000 prize.

Ex-EastEnder Judi - who has been single for six months and out of the limelight far longer - is desperate not to be outshone by Abi and Rebecca.

She said: "My boobs are all real. I don't need surgery like Abi and Rebecca. Mine are big enough."

And Lee plans to woo TV presenter Jayne and Rebecca in the pool.

He said: "I love dark-haired girls like Jayne and Rebecca. I don't fancy sex on the beach with them. There's too much sand. But I have had sex in a swimming pool before - with an ex-girlfriend years ago."

Just what ITV are hoping for. Unfortunately for the TV station, though, Jayne and Liz do not seem to be playing ball.

Jayne said: "I'm not a wham, bam, thank you ma'am kind of girl. I love the beauty of romance. And once I'm in a relationship, I'm definitely a one-man woman."

SLAPPER supreme Abi Titmuss is in no hurry to jet off for what's set to be one of TV's tawdriest-ever shows, Celebrity Love Island.

While her Z-list co-stars Du'aine Ladejo and midget Paul Danan (sorry, Paul who?) were lapping it up in Fiji, Abi, 29, was partying into the early hours at London's Kingly Club on Wednesday night. I don't blame her!

Being famous ain't so great, says Coldplay's Chris


The idea of celebrity is “nonsense” and fame is not all it is cracked up to be, Coldplay’s Chris Martin said today.

The frontman, who is married to Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, 31, said great books, music and architecture fall by the wayside because people are into celebrities.

Speaking to The Sunday Times Culture magazine as the band prepared to release their album, X&Y, in June, he said: “Fame isn’t the answer it is cracked up to be in our society.

“Great things get ignored because they’re not famous enough – great books, music, architecture.

“Most people don’t talk about that stuff, but they can tell you who’s going out with who.”

Martin, 28, said he tried to focus on his music and one-year-old daughter, Apple.

“I just try to ignore it as much as possible because, you know, Apple needs me to change her nappy: it’s real it’s not a cartoon.”

The star also said that, at one point, he had considered abandoning lyrics detailing raw emotion in favour of something less personal.

“There came a point when we were having all sorts of stuff in our private life that I said to Jonny (Buckland) ‘Do you think I should stop singing about how I feel? Rebecca admits that if the alcohol is flowing her good intentions could go the same way as her inhibitions. "If we all get p***** and everyone decides to get naked and jump in the Jacuzzi I'll be there!" she promised.

We are exhuasted by all the high-minded huffing and there hasn't even been any low-minded panting yet. I refer to attacks on Celebrity Love Island. The naked aim of the ITV series irs to show attractive[ish], famous [ish] folk have sex on screen. It should be applauded for its honesty.
The possibility of sex on set was, after all, the only lure of BB, yet its dumb contestants believed we were interested in their witterings. At last in this Lady Isabella Hervey, Abi Titmuss, Rebecca Loos and friends know the score. These "celebs" are admitting they are free of talent as they are of taste, and to remain in the public eye they have to give us, well, an eyeful. How refreshing after Charlotte Rampling rambling on about old actresses not getting enough work. Does she believe Penelope Cruz is paid $2m a flick in Hollywood just for the talent she displays.? Her big draw is her sex appeal. The same goes for men now. Puerile though she is, Abi purring makes better viewing then Charlotte moaning.

Loos: I 'wed' a gay model




REBECCA Loos has revealed how she got “married” — in a GAY wedding in California.

The bisexual, 27, wed former Calvin Klein model Jenny Shimizu.

She admits it was protest at marriage laws in that state, which forbid such ceremonies.

She refers to Shimizu as ‘husband’ and adds: “When we got married, I was nervous.

“A mad priest with dyed green eyelashes conducted the service.

“We had the church, the dress and people throwing rose petals. It was very scary.”

Rebecca, who claims to have bedded David Beckham, added: “Jenny has a very sexy body, very sexy tattoos.
