Celebrity Love Island - Michael Greco Profile
For a man with 100 marriage proposals to his name, former soap star Michael Greco is used to saying no.
The heart-throb actor, who has been linked to a string of glamorous women, does not believe in love at first sight.
Age: 35
Star Sign: Libra
Born: Redhill, Surrey
“It takes time to get to know someone and fall in love properly but if a bit of lust comes along then I’m not going to block it. If I click with someone we’ll see what happens.
“I am doing this for a laugh but I know there are going to be beautiful women around and that is going to be a temptation for everyone,” he says.
Michael, who works out three-times-a-week, dated pneumatic glamour model Linsey Dawn McKenzie and was paired with Lisa Faulkner and TV presenter Dani Behr.
He claims to have matured from his approach in his 20s when relationships came and went.
“I had flings and holiday romances from the age of 18 to 25, but I’ve grown up since then. “I am looking forward to the challenge of getting on with 11 strangers in such a confined space. It takes me a while to open up but when you are with people 24/7 then its going to happen quicker.
“I’ve learnt a lot about how to treat a woman in relationships over the past couple of years and I think I’m a lot less selfish.
“Monogamy is very important – I didn’t think that in my teens or early 20s but I have matured and I definitely want to settle down, have children and a future and, until that person comes along, I’m not going to settle for second best.
“I don’t think I believe in love at first sight because then you are falling for the image and not the soul – but there’s no harm in having fun.”
Michael, who starred as Billy Flynn in the West End production of Chicago, is convinced that the mind is more important than the body when you are looking for a partner.
“If you find someone amazingly sexy but they are not stimulating your mind then you could get quite bored,” he adds.
“I am a very polite person so people may be surprised that I am not like the character they’ve seen on telly. I’ve been vilified quite unjustly in the past so this show will do me the world of good because it will show the true me.”
His sporty nature will set him up nicely for the beach competitions but he cannot swim so has promised only to go into the beautiful south seas up to his knees.
“Sharks do scare me. You hear stories of them getting lost and heading in land and then, before you know it, they can be biting your legs off. I’ll be happy just watching when it comes to any swimming,” says Michael.
He believes his smile, sense of humour and strong legs could be a turn-on for the girls and has stated that bitten finger-nails are his biggest turn-off.
“I’m attracted to women with nice smiles and good hands who have that ability to push me that extra bit,” he says.
“I believe men and women can be good friends. I’ve got half-a-dozen really close female friends and I haven’t slept with them or kissed them. But, equally, there are some girls who I have slept with and you can become very close to because you’ve got that stuff out of the way and you just get on with being close friends.
“The qualities I look for are honesty, truth and humour. On Celebrity Love Island I’m looking for laughs, a challenge and a great time in the sun . . . anything else would be a bonus.”
