MELBOURNE'S first Big Brother evictee has hit out at "racism" in the house.

Constance Hall said fellow evictee Nelson Russell had been unfairly singled out by the show, for calling Big Brother "a Jew".
Russell caused a furore when he made the quip after Big Brother refused to replace Hall's nose-ring, which she lost during a game.

After seeing the footage of his outburst, Nelson said: "I'll start with an apology, because I didn't mean to offend anyone, I really didn't mean to offend anyone. It was just an off-the-cuff comment.

"It was completely thoughtless. I've got no problems with Jews, I'm not an anti-semite, I was just trying to call him (Big Brother) stingy and I am sorry."

But Hall said Russell wasn't the only person to let slip racist comments, saying he was singled out.

"Someone said '******'," she said.

"He said 'I was walking down the street and passed a ******', and we all just said 'you can't say that on television' and they didn't show any of that.

She believed Big Brother wouldn't screen the other racial insult, as "they'll just get shot down for it".

The Big Brother eviction wasn't the only one Russell suffered this week. The night he was kicked out of his television house he was told he would also have to leave his Brisbane home.

He has until the end of the month to find a new place to live, after his landlord decided to renovate.

Hall said it was unfair that she and Russell had been painted as nasty people.

Big Brother Live Nomination, Ten, 7.30pm

The early nomination shows are compulsive viewing, as the loose-cannons lash out and unexpected animosities rise to the surface.

Host Gretel Killeen is as sharp as a tack, as usual, but where are they hiding beloved Big Brother psychologist Carmel Hill ?

Big Brother's behaviour has been erratic lately. Last week, he was overly tough on the housemates's reasons for nomination - and evicting Nelson and Constance for lying about their partners was crazy. Why remove the two biggest trouble-makers? Better them than a placid "single" housemate. Hotdogs, in particular, is more sizzle than sausage and we are yet to see any buns.

Another overreach is giving the winner of Friday night's task the power to veto a nominated housemate, with the fourth most-unpopular taking their place. This introduces a random, artificial dynamic into a house that was toxic enough without it.

HOUSEMATE Angela became the first person evicted from the Big Brother house in 2005 last night.

The blonde with the big mouth was voted out from a group of four that also included bisexual Geneva, journalist Tim and bad boy Dean.
Angela, 29, made a name for herself by bitching regularly about fellow housemates. Despite trying to make up for her misdemeanours this week with a five-day charm offensive, the public decided it was time for her to go.

Angela was not originally nominated for eviction. However, she found herself in the hot seat when housemate Glenn used a privilege given to him by Big Brother to affect nominations.

After winning the first Friday night games, Glenn was allowed to take three nomination points away from a fellow housemate. He asked for them to be taken from Michelle, thus moving her out of the nomination picture and dropping Angela in it.

That action led to tension between Michelle and Angela, which Angela tried in vain to clear up this week when Michelle confronted her over comments she made about her. "Michelle had an issue about women and that's why she didn't want to befriend women she only wanted to befriend men," Angela said.

Labelled a "princess" by others in the house, Angela emerged from the compound wearing a tiara.

"It's horrible," Angela said of her experience in the house. "It's like school. Everybody was fighting for the back of the bus."

Last week, in an unprecedented move, Big Brother removed two housemates from the Gold Coast compound after it was revealed they had been lying about their relationship status.

Producers had stipulated that all this year's housemates had to be single.

But Constance, a 21-year-old Victorian hairdresser, and Nelson, a 23-year-old assistant manager from Queensland, in fact had partners.

Angela has become the first contestant to be evicted from the Big Brother house in the 2005 series of the Ten Network reality show.

The 29 year old, who owns and runs a dating agency in Victoria, appeared in shock as her name was announced as the first evictee.

Angela had been given a "strike" against her for speaking about eviction with other housemates, in contravention of one of the many rules for contestants.

Labelled a "princess" by others in the house, Angela emerged from the compound wearing a tiara.

AHEAD of last night's eviction show a rumour that Nicole Kidman was set to visit the Big Brother house seemed outlandish, but after that possibility had been debunked, talk persisted that another Hollywood star is set to call in the show's Gold Coast compound.

The talk suggests there may be a shaven-headed star mingling with the housemates in the near future – one Natalie Portman.

Supposedly she may pay the BB housemates a visit as part of a promotional exercise to tie in with the release of the latest Star Wars flick – Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, in which she plays Padme Amidala.

Taking into account her reputation as a class act though, it's unlikely the Closer star would consider associating herself with such a trashy TV concept.

***

HOUSEMATE Christie just keeps coming up with unintentionally bizarre comments.

The latest in a long line of Christie-isms: "I reckon smell-TV will be invented soon.

***

POPULAR shearer Glenn is apparently the latest housemate to be embroiled in the racism scandal that engulfed evictee Nelson.

Glenn has reportedly been guilty of dropping the 'n' word – not a good move.

***

YOU'D thing the fact the house is populated by a bunch of grown men and women would constitute at least a degree of mature behaviour, but bullying of housemate Tim – including practical jokes – has taken place for quite some time.

Tim's recent "it's not primary school" comment was therefore totally fair enough.

ADELAIDE'S Big Brother housemate Gianna Pattison was evicted from the Channel 10 reality show last night, with a whopping 53 per cent of the vote.

The Norwood customer service operator was up against contenders Geneva, Michael and Hotdogs.

She was the fourth housemate to get the boot this season. Gianna told the show's host Gretel Killeen: "I had a suspicion I'd be going because I'm not exactly similar to anyone else in the house, in terms of things like drugs and drink driving."

ADELAIDE'S dumped Big Brother housemate Gianna Pattison says her looks were a curse inside the reality show house.

We think her apparent intriguing claims also may have contributed to her being ousted by a whopping 53 per cent of the votes.

But the Norwood customer service operator says: "I can't help the way I look and my achievements are just part of my personality."

Gianna was painted as vain on Channel 10's Big Brother - she says, "those mirrors are everywhere". "Geez, where do you look? At the ground?" she cries.

Perhaps it didn't help that she wandered about the Queensland pad in a nurse's uniform and performed a tipsy pole dancing routine with housemate Christie one night.

Gianna says the outfit was a friend's dare and that it was going to be auctioned for charity.

Also in the house, Gianna was painted as somewhat of a loner, harking back to her school days when she changed her name by deed poll.

"It used to be Janie. I changed it when I finished high school," Gianna explains. "I used to get picked on at school and (the name) just reminded me of that time."

As for photographs that have popped up featuring her with strippers?

Gianna says she only worked as a promotional model for entertainment agency Bodz 'n' Babz - and that is as far as it went.

"I didn't have anything to do with the adult entertainment side but my good friend, that is the owner, Carissa (Buczko), is a stripper, and sometimes I tagged along," Gianna says.

From Sydney Confidential
June 01, 2005

NEW Big Brother housemate Rachael is one of two intruders who'll enter the BB house tonight.

The 19-year-old sales and promotional model, a "temptress" from Liverpool, says she aims to stir things up in the house.

Well, thanks for the info, Rachael - isn't that what intruders are meant to do?

One of her aims is to get some action from Michelle, adding: "I think Michelle's really down to earth, really similar to me."

Her fellow intruder, a brunette from Melbourne, appears to believe most of the housemates are a bit thick, an opinion shared by Confidential.

"They're loud and everything, but I think there's a lot more to them, or there should be," the brunette says.

* * *

REGARDING Big Brother boobs and bottoms, Confidential readers were outraged yesterday, saying Monday's Big Brother Uncut episode "verged on sexual harassment".

"Michael had his you-know-what out and was rubbing it against Gianna without her knowing it," reader Andrew said in disgust.

"She was shocked when she realised - it was obviously without her consent," he said.

"And at 9.30pm? Maybe I'm being old-fashioned but it was just so full-on."

Maybe that is what they meant by an intruder from the UK or did it actually say someone from the UK BB house or is there a Liverpool in Australia? ${

There is a Liverpool in NSW, Australia Christine :

Liverpool - the quick history

Liverpool was founded on November 7, 1810 by Governor Lachlan Macquarie and named in honour of the Earl of Liverpool, then Secretary of State for the Colonies.

Liverpool is Australia’s fourth oldest town behind Sydney, Parramatta and Hobart. Unlike these cities, Liverpool was the first free planned settlement of Australia.

From The Eye
02jun05

For some reason, The Eye is copping heaps from people who want to save furry animals because of what Glenn had to say about kangaroos on Big Brother.

Country boy Glenn has been talking about roo shooting and running into roos on country roads.

Somehow animal-protection groups believe this means Glenn needs public humiliation and a cruelty charge.

Talk about overkill.

A week ago, The Eye published a comment from Animals Australia wondering if country people are happy to be represented by Glenn.

We also raised the prospect country people might support him.

Now the animal groups say we "got behind Glenn" because we raised the possibility there might be another point of view, other than their own.

That's just blindly illogical.

Sometimes folks, you've just gotta take the blinkers off.

AS The Eye predicted on Tuesday, Melbourne girl Vesna joined Sydney promotional model Rachael to enter the Big Brother house last night.

Vesna, who owns a hairdressing salon, should be a real live wire.

THE English Big Brother house was woken one morning this week by Kylie Minogue's I Should Be So Lucky.

It prompted a discussion about our Kylie and how much they all loved her, and the housemates sent her their best wishes.
