Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger will take part in a
fashion reality show called The Cut.
Following on from the success of shows such as Project Runaway contestants will compete to become the next hot fashion designer. The glittering prize is a $250,000 a year job designing a collection for Hilfiger.
Sixteen people will live together Soho loft apartment in New York and be given a weekly task. There are weekly evictions until the final winner emerges.
Hilfiger told PAGESIX.COM:” I am looking for someone who has the capability of building a lifestyle brand, which goes beyond apparel and fashion. I think the public really doesn’t understand what goes on behind the scenes in the fashion business.
They think it is all glamour, but building a global fashion brand is similar to building any kind of big brand.” He also is excited at the prospect of developing the Hilfiger brand globally adding:” I have been doing the Tommy Hilfiger collection for 20 years.
This is something completely different for me, but actually doing the same thing I do every day. I mentor, I judge and I guide a team of designers and creative people who develop products for the Tommy Hilfiger company globally.”
