Enid Blyton's classic children's stories The Famous Five are to be transformed into a modern animated TV adventure series.
The series will be based on Blyton's original books about Julian, Dick, Ann, George and Timmy the Dog, but will be given a 21st century setting.

Blyton's books, which were written between 1942 to 1963, continue to sell 450,000 copies each year in the UK.

The cartoon series is expected to air in early 2007.

An initial 26 episodes will be made of the adventures as the children go about solving mysteries.

The rights to Blyton's books are owned by entertainment group Chorion, which hopes to sell the cartoon series around the globe.

21st century setting?

Oh no. Please, just no. Make them leave it the way it is. :-(

See, now I have the image of them wanting buckfast instead.

"Oh how wonderful George, you brought liquid refreshments"

"Oh yes, lashings of buckie for everyone!!"

well they showed a real person version of TFF on ITV when I was probably about 10 so either they remade it or they replayed it because I remember it vividly.

I've just done an image search and these people come up as The Famous Five, they definitely weren't the ones that I saw. The people I saw looked more clear if you get me, that photo looks old.

Surely somebody remembers a remake of it? I remember watching it on ITV after school so it definitely wasn't a video.

By the way, I have a Rainbow connection to my family if you like and i know the time that it happened children who were just like 3 years older than me were obsessed by it so it's not like I'm the only one. All my friends liked it.

The best version of it was the Comic Strips!
