A woman and her two-year-old daughter are recovering in hospital after a 100ft plunge from the Humber Bridge.
A rescue boat plucked them to safety after at least 25 minutes in the freezing water.
The toddler, who suffered hypothermia, is in a stable condition in the intensive care unit at Hull Royal Infirmary.
Her 26-year-old mother, from Leeds, broke several bones but her condition is not thought to be life threatening.
Humber Bridge staff raised the alarm shortly before 10pm on Friday night when an empty pram was found on a footpath near the south tower.
It took emergency services 25 minutes to locate the mother and child, who were taken to hospital in the Humberside Police helicopter.
A force spokeswoman said: "Detectives are making inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"Officers are particularly keen to speak to a man who cycled over the bridge not long after the woman left the footpath
