I'm pretty sure and have been for ages that Gerrard will end up at Chelsea in a midfield partnership with Frank Lampard.

Chelsea will have an even better team next season than they do now if Gerrard signs which is hard to believe, lol. Best keeper in the world (Cech), one of the best centre backs in the world (Terry), best wingers in the world (Robben and Duff), best central midfielders in the world (Gerrard and Lampard). They could do to get rid of Drogba and sign a couple of good strikers though.

As long as it keeps Man Utd from acheiving anything then I'm all for it!!!!!

I think Gerrard's been doing the same thing the last 6 weeks.

Begone Judas! And may the thirty pieces of silverwear that Rafa the Gafa brings to Anfield stick in your throat!

Not that I'm bitter...

Congratulations on winning the Champions League but lets face it, Liverpool have become nothing more than a mediocre Premiership side. The fact that Everton finished higher is good evidence of that. When Gerrard leaves, spend the money wisely because he is a huge loss! You wouldn't have made it past Olympiakos without him!

Even in our wilderness years we are good enough to regularly win trophies.

I would define mediocrity as mid-table. We've not been mid-table in the history of the Premiership.

We wouldn't have made it past Olympiakos without Mellor or Cinema-Pong either. As I remember that night, Gerrard was very poor and all he did was score a wonder goal. He's been poor quite a lot this season, with occassional world-class performances.

Our poor form last year can be attributed to the worst injury-list in the Premiership, a new manager unused to the English game and post-CL game fatigue (don't think we ever won a game after playing in the CL through the week).

That and the fact Everton are a jammy bunch of $^Y&£"£$% $^^%£s!!! :D

Clutching at straws a bit there Alan! Gerrard was the big game player for you and you will miss him rotten when he leaves. If Liverpool are to become a force in the Premiership again, you need to spend the money you get from Gerrard on a new striker to partner Morientes. I've not seen anything in Cisse (pre injury or post) to say he's worth the money and Baros is too inconsistent.

Gerrard will be a huge loss, I just hope he is a huge gain for Chelsea!

Not clutching at straws. Clutching the European Cup. ;)

We'll of course miss Gerrard. That's why I'm bitter.

But the whole team needs strengthening and his sale will hopefully finance that if Benitez spends wisely (and ALL managers sign duds).

I was gutted when Owen left but we still won the CL, so I am not too down-hearted. Just hope Cisse is able to score 20+ goals per season. I too don't rate him, and I don't think Benitez does either. But I'll give him a chance.

Could be an even more expensive flop than Diouf.

Apparently he's staying now :-? he's made himself look a right tit.

Must have been tough to decide wether £100,000 a week was enough for him.

Quote:
STEVEN GERRARD did a stunning u-turn this morning and decided to STAY at Anfield.

This comes just 24-hours after handing in a transfer request.

Kop chief executive Rick Parry revealed: “Stevie has decided to stay.

“The last few days have been so difficult for him and I apologise to Stevie if I misread his emotions.

“But, in the last 24 hours he has reflected on it and decided to stay and it’s what we wanted all along.”

The shock change of heart means that Chelsea have missed out on the England midfielder for the second summer in succession.

Gerrard, 25, had an amazing bust-up with Rafa Benitez the night before the Liverpool skipper handed in his transfer request.

The Reds skipper phoned boss Benitez and demanded they sort out their differences "man-to-man" after seeing his Press conference on TV.

The England star was stunned to hear Benitez saying how much he was valued and that he wanted him to be a future manager at Anfield when the boss had never previously shown such faith.

Gerrard met the Spaniard without agent Struan Marshall or club chief executive Rick Parry and was offered a new £100,000-a-week deal.
