Unfortunately it happens according to the news. Those who don't find assurance, comfort and love in the family environment can easily be seduced into meeting strangers who offer the same things. Through naivety they believe what they are told and if they don't hear same things through their family (it is difficult sometimes to put it into words in families) they believe the stranger because it is in black and white.

I know it happens but I'm just not convinced by the way she has put it down on paper.

Maybe if she'd waited a bit longer before they met and stuff, it just doesn't work for me.

I'm currently reading the No.1 dectective lady series, on the third one! Very, very good! I would also recommend Tess Gerritsen, every single one of her books is fantastic! If you like thrillers and medical dramas......

I have just finished reading Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. What an amazing journey it was - in the time it took me to read it I've had 3 new jobs, two mortgages, got married, got divorced... ;) :D .
The book weren't bad but Tolkien don't half waffle. I mean, why use 217,432 words when 5,000 would do? It's a bit different to my next book, Chav! A User's Guide to Britain's New Ruling Class.

No way! ::lol:: When I started to read that Tolkien's book, I remember that first 100 pages went really slow, but after that I had to read every three books, also the Bilbo Baggins story to the Lonely Mountain and back and some other books. But I was a teenager those days and I did have time to read for joy! ::lol::

I wonder have they translated in English any books from Finnish Ilkka Remes
http://www.ilkkaremes.com
but I'm reading a book named "Hiroshiman portti" (The Gate of Hiroshima) at the moment and it's a thriller. ;)

I'm not surprised Peter Jackson opted to leave out large chunks of FotR. What on earth was all that stuff about Tom Bombadil?? IMHO, and this will upset the purists, the film was better than the book.

Hey Mari A, did you know there is a theory that Tolkien based some of the Elven tongue on Finnish?

Yes we Finns, who has read some Tolkien, do know that Tolkien studied Finnish as well when he was in Oxford University and used Finnish when he created Elven tongue. He was interested in Finnish as a language as well. But maybe we that's why like his books and can undertand too the part of Tom Bombadil as well and why it's in the book. Aragorn had something to do with those lost spirits in the end of the adventure. But as usually, eventhought films were great, I think that books should be read first, because books have so many details that cannot be found in films. Like the episode of Tom Bombadil.

Tolkien wrote to his children every Christmas letters from Santa Claus as well and now they have published those letters in a book. Did you know that real Santa Claus lives in Finland, not in a North Pole? ;)

We have national epic called Kalevala (you know that Greeks has their Odysseys-epic etc.) and that's story that Tolkien learnt to know as well. So it's not a theory that Tolkien used some knowledge of Finnish language, it's true. :D

I have just finished Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks which had an unexpected end and I am just about to start The Bookseller of Kabul by Asne Seirstad. I actually bought it for my mum for her birthday because I wanted to read it myself and asked her to give it back when she had finished it. :D

HC I read the Bookseller of Kabul last year and loved it. I read some articles last year also on the author which gave me a different viewpoint so would be interested to hear what you think of it when you are finished.
