Silence on the Streets

(apologies for posting this in a BB6 forum but it needs to be read)

At 12 o'clock noon this Thursday there's going to be a two minute silence to remember the victims of the bombs which exploded a week earlier, during rush hour last Thursday morning. Buses will stop, businesses will stop, everything still for two minutes.

It's a gesture of compassion and sympathy and remembrance, but also maybe a gesture of defiance - and so there's a thought that wherever we are, we should go out on to the streets, and observe the silence there, in public.

The whole of Britain, standing on our streets, which we will always own and defend, in silence.

Please pass this on to everyone you know.

I went out onto the street in front of my house and it seemed like I was the only one who knew about the silence..
it even seemed noisier than usual :-?
It would have been so good if a few nieghbours had come out and stood there with me..

Afew of us went down into the street to observe the silence, and there were loads there, from other offices, all gathering- it was very eerie and quite moving. ()^

The adjacent London Underground Station, signalled the start /finish of the 2 minutes with a siren, and all the Underground Staff, across London, (as well as doing a collection), are wearing black armbands for the day.

Of course there were still, afew morons, walking past, in their own selfish worlds, babbling into their mobile phones, but generally, in my area, it was observed with dignity and respect. ()^

Granted if they didn't know about it, but i bet there were some people who knew about it who never even bothered. Thankfully i never spoke from 12 till 12:15pm, so at least this is something.

Yep, you always get a few selfish ones. Yet if it was one of their family members, they would be the first ones to demand respect for them.

From news reports/ photos, it appears large crowds gathered at Trafalgar Sq. and Kings Cross.
Tonights, 6pm vigil, in Trafalgar Sq, should be quite busy.

Just incase anyone was wondering, at 12 BB stopped the live coverage and went to their standard shots of the seats, table & gnomes etc. with no sound.

^ I was wondering, thanks.

I just wish there was more we could do, a 2 minute silence just seems like nothing in comparison to what happened, but what else CAN you do?!

I think this was very good of channel4 to do this, whether or not they done it out of fear, i don't know. But still, it was good of them to do it anyway.
